Conversations with Andy Amador-Alfaro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andy Amador-Alfaro.

Hi Andy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started taking videos and photos during my college days. I wanted to capture moments and editing has been my favorite thing to do! Once I graduated, I knew I needed to continue this and decided to create an official name, and a website. I decided to name my freelance company “Tecla Productions” because that’s where I am from. I was raised in a city called Santa Tecla in El Salvador. I thought this would be an excellent way to honor the city where I created my early memories and I was coming from.

Once I got married, I asked my husband to join and I know for sure he ended up becoming a better video shooter than I was lol. We enjoy our time together at weddings and at some point, it’s a “date night.” We have 2 little ones and we know all of this is worth it because they are learning that memories are worth capturing and it’s the only thing left from such a special day. Especially since it takes so much time to plan, save and prepare an event.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been easy at all, especially since we spend most of the weekends away from our little ones. But they are understandable and are learning about how hard work is paying off several of our family life goals. But one thing for sure is that we have met amazing vendors and clients that have become long-term term friends, and most of the time we create even memories together after their big day.

Starting this little company was not easy, because reaching out to customers and proving to them we are honest and passionate about our work can take some time. Especially after there are so many horror stories about other vendors vanishing out, not answering messages, or being polite.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Since I loooooveee shooting and editing, I know I can have fun by being creative. Especially since every couple is different and possesses different backgrounds. Most of the clients are nervous about their sessions and would always thank me for the pictures, but in the end, they do most of the job. They are already living the moment, and emotions and are proving themselves to be happy; we just capture that moment through the lens. I love that everyone gets to be themselves and is proud to see themselves being happy through pictures and videos. Our pictures and videos show different perspectives, that’s why I enjoy doing both. Is just amazing to see how at the end these memories will bring back more memories in the future.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Watching Harry Potter and Star Wars as a family! Family is truly everything. That is why capturing memories are so important.
