Today we’d like to introduce you to Ariana Gold.
Hi Ariana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My interest in art began when I was a little girl, growing up in Houston, Texas, and it continued through high school, college, and graduate school . As far back as I can remember, I have enjoyed all forms of visual art. I even won an award in high school called “Most Promising Artist!”
I started selling my paintings soon after college to my surprise, and with encouragement from my family I was allowed the opportunity to pursue a career as a professional artist. Although I have had many day jobs, I always returned to art.
I paint mostly with acrylics on canvas, but have expanded my practice to include beaded jwelery, handpainted bags and clothes, and handbag designs. My designs have been included at Voyage et Cie in Los Ageles, Katia boutique, and Pomp and Circumstance here in Houston. I have had 3 art shows in Houston and I continue to sell art on my website www.arianagold.com. I also do commissions.
I love making art and being a part of the creative community here in Houston! I travel often to places like Miami, New Yor, and Los Angeles. I have a cute dog named Lulu and I live in Upper Kirby.
Anything else yo9u would like to know, just ask!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have definitely been struggles along the way! Painting can be very isolating which can take its toll on mental health. Art requires creativity and cannot be forced. There has to be a “mood” to paint! There is no guarantee of steady financial income, outcome of each work of art, and demand. There is also the struggle within of wether or not I am talented enough to be an artist. It is a journey.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I paint on canvas with acrylics. I specialize in female portraits whci are representations of imagined faces. I am most known for my use of color. I am most proud of my resilience in the art world . What sets me apart from others is a personal style that I have developed over the years.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I carry my interest in art through various forms of creativity including fashion, art history, and interior decorating. I love celebrity fashion and shopping! I am obsessed with Carolyn Bessette Kennedy.
