Conversations with Ashley Santos Batiste

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Santos Batiste.

Ashley Santos Batiste

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Originally from Puerto Rico, I moved to Houston for university and have been here since.

Starting from the beginning, I am the oldest of 3 and raised my siblings after being sent to grow up in a foreign country with people we did not know and a language we did not speak. Nevertheless, we adapted, and that became my home. Growing up in Puerto Rico in the area I was in, you did not see many Afro-Latinas, so I was always different. Always seen as different, different textured hair, skin tone, and very extroverted. Luckily, I had sports as an outlet to make me feel a part of something. That is what got me to Houston on a full ride to Prairie View A&M University. I was always smart in the classroom and had aspirations of becoming a doctor or so I let my family lead me to believe. After getting into medical school, I decided to leave and pursue my own path. I always loved technology and decided to pursue my master’s in computer information systems. I love working in technology, but my true passion is what I do on a day-to-day basis as well.

I love to inspire, create content focused on showing up as you are, what luxury and lifestyle looks like to you as a mom covered in milk and a wife building her marriage. Standing in my truth and allowing others to share in that. Knowing it’s ok to be different and sharing my family and parenting from my perspective. My goal is be better than where I started, better than that young girl on the island who wanted to fit in instead of standing in her own. I want my audience to know that you are beautiful and you can do all things: be a mom, be a wife, have the wedding, get the house, have a career, have children, go party, make time for yourself. Why choose? Why settle? I didn’t, and it’s because I learned my worth! My husband definitely helped me get here, and for that, I am grateful to him!

How I met my husband: The first week of my freshman year, I met my now husband Sorone Batiste, who also ran track. We were inseparable since the day we met and now have 2 beautiful daughters. They inspire me to be better every day, even on the hard days!

It would seem that reading this maybe I went through not as much as many but a lot compared to some. This is true, but it made me into the women, mother, wife, and go-getter that I am today. My family is my everything; God has allowed me to be where I am today. I am my brand and love sharing lifestyle content, links, fashion, and advice with my audience. I am forever grateful of what I’ve started!

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course not, finding your niche, your passion is hard. For me, I knew what I wanted to share and build with my audience but did not know where to start, how to stay consistent, and not compare myself to others.

I struggled with comparing myself to other creators. I finally realized that what I have to offer is different and unique. My brand draws in moms who can identify with my life, single girlies who want families, 2 under 2 moms, etc.

Settling to partner with brands I was not passionate about. I realized that my content did more numbers, made me feel better, and had a better impact when I was actually passionate about the brand.

Staying consistent was hard. This came from time management and realizing that a content schedule is best for me.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Lifestyle blogger and creator. My content focuses on mom life, wife life, parenting, beauty, everyday lifestyle, and fashion.

I am most proud of my family. I love sharing our perspectives and our day-to-day lives.

What sets me apart is my authenticity, my family, and my bilingual content.

What do you think about happiness?
I truly enjoy family outings, working out, traveling, and self-care.

I enjoy creating memories, impacting others, and accomplishing goals.
