Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Access Family Home Care began as a dream fueled by my passion to serve, support, and make a meaningful difference for families. What started as a personal calling quickly became my mission.
Growing up closely with my grandparents was one of the greatest blessings of my life. Being surrounded by their wisdom, stories, and love shaped my heart for service at an early age. I truly believe it is an honor to care for and uplift those who paved the way for us and once cared for us. This passion continues to inspire my commitment to serving the senior community with compassion, respect, and purpose.
Having witnessed the physical, emotional, and mental impact of caring for my grandmother, Angie Lee, I realized how challenging it can be to care for a loved one at home. Many families face the same exhaustion and responsibility that comes with being the sole caregiver. That’s when I understood the true value of home care agencies like mine providing support, relief, and compassionate in-home care services for families in need.
My journey began in earnest after seeing a video my husband discovered on YouTube, featuring a young African American entrepreneur who turned his passion for home care into a thriving business. Inspired, I partnered with other local home care agencies, volunteered, and absorbed as much knowledge as possible. Through dedication, learning, and community collaboration, I transformed my dream into Access Family Home Care a business committed to easing the burden on families while delivering compassionate care to those who need it most.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been easy, but it has absolutely been worth it. My passion for serving families and making a positive impact has made the trials and sacrifices meaningful. Some of the biggest challenges came from being a self-funded startup. Starting a business with little to no capital meant learning as I went, often figuring things out through trial and error.
I initially thought that investing a few thousand dollars would quickly grow the business and produce an immediate return, but I quickly realized it’s far more complex. There are overhead costs, marketing expenses, taxes, and other operational necessities that must be carefully managed. Navigating these challenges has been difficult, but each obstacle has strengthened my knowledge, resilience, and commitment to providing compassionate in-home care to families who need it most.

At Access Family Home Care, we provide compassionate in-home care support services for seniors and individuals with disabilities. Our team assists with activities of daily living, including companionship, light housekeeping, meal preparation, medication reminders, incontinence care, exercise therapy, transportation, errands, bathing, grooming, dressing, and more. Essentially, we provide support for nearly every personal assistance need our clients may have.
Our goal is to help seniors stay healthy, safe, and comfortable in their own homes, with caregivers trained to meet each individual’s unique needs. I am most proud of the opportunity to serve and support families and their loved ones the gratitude and appreciation we receive from our community is truly the greatest reward.
