Conversations with Brittney Simmons

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittney Simmons.

Hi Brittney, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I started taking photos of family and friends in 2012. My oldest daughter at the time was in dance and needed portraits in her costumes, I wanted to save money and decided to take her dance portraits myself. I then started taking grad pictures of family and at birthday parties. I had strangers asking me to do their pictures but I just didn’t have the time because I have a uniform business that I was working on constantly.

Finally, in 2019 I decided to take other clients besides family and friends because I had time in my down season in the uniform business. Once I started God just kept sending more clients and perfecting the gift with each client.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road hasn’t been smooth because it can be tough trying to juggle family, my photography business, and my uniform business where I service the private schools in my area with school uniforms.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a photographer (United 633 Photography) and Founder/CEO of a school uniform company (United School Uniforms) where I service the private schools in my area with school uniforms. I’m very proud of both businesses because I worked hard to get where I am now. With my uniform business, I was the manager of a uniform company for 5 years until they went bankrupt and then I started my own uniform company and purchased all of the inventory from the company I worked for at auction and went for it.

With my photography company, I took a hobby and stepped out to make it a business. Both businesses took me stepping out on faith and totally trusting God in the process. I admire a lot of photographers in my area and we all have our own unique ways of capturing people. My love for antique props and pieces in some of my portraits sets me apart from other photographers.
