Today we’d like to introduce you to Brody MuseSick.
Hi Brody, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story started from always wanting freedom both mental and creatively . I grew up with a family that allowed me to be authentic, colorful, weird, & as crazy as I wanted. That goes for my fashion and my music taste. I always knew I would have a career in music. When I was in middle school/HS I was in the band, I played trumpet and drums. Outside of band me and my best friend Starsky (RIH) would get together in our laundry mat and create an entire beat routine using our knuckles and pens. Once perfected we would perform it for classmates back at school and even at church. Seeing how they would react to the beats I knew one day me performing or producing music was destined.
Fast forward a bit, I never planned on djing I was just messing around with making some beats, that’s when my bro suggested I should start djing as well.
My ear for music has always been eclectic and out the box, Now I just want to be able to share how I feel on the inside sonically. Frequency is everything.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road on any creative path is never smooth. I’ve had many problems along the way from not getting paid for gigs, equipment crashing during dj sets, and really second guessing if this path journey is really for you. The only thing that makes it work is really surrendering your ego and mind to what God has planned.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an dj/ producer/ clothing designer.
With my dj career I would say I specialize in being able to blend different genres of music effortlessly and take the listeners on a true wave of energy. My clothing line specializes in cultural ideas/influences and consciousness as well. Bridging the gap for both worlds and expanding thought. The clothing brand is always a conversational piece wherever you wear it. The things that I am most proud of is the fact that the 17 year old version of myself would be in awe of my life right now. S/O Virgil. Also really proud to able to work in a city that is so diverse and full of culture, that really inspires me. Something that sets me apart from the others is the fact I will never conform to the stat quo, do what’s cool or put myself in a box, I will always push boundaries and limits in whatever field I’m working in. No ceilings.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
My biggest support has been God, my family and my daughter. Every club and venue that I have played in the city, too many to list but Thankyou for welcoming me and letting me do me. The creative path is really trial and error, you push yourself until the greatness is spewing out of your pores.
