Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsey Martin.
Hi Chelsey, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My husband left on military deployment when our first child was three months old. There were so many ‘firsts’ that he missed and so many moments where I wanted to pause time. I always had a love for photography, but my passion for preserving these special moments for my own family was what led me to turn my passion into a profession.
Now I am so blessed to work with families, who, like me, want to preserve life’s precious moments and the special, fleeting journey that is motherhood.
I remember sitting around my grandmother’s table as a child watching her go back in time through her photographs. My hope for every family is that what we capture along the way will create stories and preserve memories for generations to come.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting this business with three children during the height of COVID-19 was anything but smooth! But my love and passion, maybe naively, kept me going even though I knew nothing about running a business or the demands that would come with it.
It has been a steep learning curve, but worth every challenge. The fun thing about this business is you are constantly reminded of your ‘why’. For me, that is my love for the ‘moments’; like capturing a big sister who is meeting her newborn sibling for the first time or a mother celebrating her first pregnancy or the joy of a toddler tasting their first birthday cake.
The moments I am able to capture for my moms have made it more than worth it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m Chelsey, a mother to three incredible children who inspired me to turn my passion for photography into my profession as a motherhood and family photographer in The Woodlands, Texas.
What sets me apart is my genuine love for Motherhood and honoring that journey. I treat each client as a lifelong friend and their kids as if they were my own. My goal is to make my clients feel as incredible, capable and amazing as they truly are.
I find so much joy in the magic and intimacy that is Motherhood. With my work, I develop a genuine connection with my moms and families so that I am able to capture and help tell their own unique stories through timeless, authentic images.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I left my comfortable, corporate job, at the height of COVID-19, right after having my third baby… I started a photography business built on love and passion. I had no idea how to run a business, but I did know I was jumping head first into something I truly loved. I think that speaks for itself :).
