Today we’d like to introduce you to Christy Duran.
Christy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
As I was trying to figure out what career field I wanted to be in. I was talking to my mother-in-law and sister-in-law that we’re both hairstylist. They mentioned I should look into esthetics school. I had never heard of this before. I knew I wanted to work with people to help them but I didn’t want to work in a hospital. As I researched what an esthetician was, I knew this was the right career for me. What caught my attention is the endless possibilities I had to help people. It’s was a growing industry. There were so many different services to offer.
Once I graduated esthetics school, I knew right away I wanted to go into medical skin care. My husband convinced me to start in a spa and work my way up. I got my first job at a Spa. As I started building my clientele, I noticed the majority of my clientele had acne. They loved the results I provided them. I knew the results could be better. So I went and got my laser certification so I could do medical skin care treatments like lasers, micro needling, and chemical peels. I begin working at a Dermatologist office. I learned so much about how the face ages, how to treat mature, acne, pigmentation, rosacea skin. I learned how to do laser treatments for pigmentation, anti-aging, broken capillaries in the face and legs and, Botox, Dysport, dermal fillers and much more. In 2014 I had my daughter and wanted to be closer to her. I then moved to a Medi spa to be closer to home. I got an opportunity to open my own medspa called Elysian Aesthetics in 2019. I was so nervous of failing but I took the leap and it’s been nothing but success.
At Elysian Aesthetics we offer laser treatments, Hydrafacial, corrective facials, chemical peel, micro needling, fillers, Botox, and dysport. I felt like I’m living in a dream. This was what I dreamed of but thought it was out of reach. But I can honestly tell you if you work hard enough dreams do come true. My teacher in aesthetics school once told me to build my career off of results, not money. This has stuck with me. I wouldn’t be here today without the support of my faithful clientele. Their support means so much to me. I am passionate about results, education and boosting my clients self esteem. It’s the most rewarding part of my job. Seeing them walk through the door with their head up and smiling so big. That’s what drives me to do my best everyday.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, It hasn’t always been easy. My 1st attempt at opening my spa was a big fail. Took me a while to recover from the loss. On the positive note, I learned so much on what I did wrong. When I got a 2nd opportunity to open my spa I did. I took what I learned from the first time and applied. It was done nothing but bring me success.

I own a medspa. I do facials, Hydrafacials, Dermaplaning, Microneedling, Dysport, Botox, Fillers, Microneeding, PRP hair rejuvenation, Chemical Peels, Lash Lifts, Brow lamination, Laser Hair Removal, Pigmentation Reduction, and Spider vein removal.
I specialize in acne, anti-aging, and pigmentation. I’m known for my results and always educating my clients.
I’m most proud of the Journey that got me here and the long lasting relationships I have built with my clientele.
What sets me apart from others is the results my clients get from my treatments. I always go over and beyond to educate and explain things to my clients. It’s important that they understand what I’m recommending and why. I never want someone to feel like I’m just trying to sell things to them. When I recommend something. It’s because I truly believe it will work to achieve my clients’ goals.

Sharing techniques and knowledge is so powerful. Education in power. Provided training so we can perfect our techniques. Referrals are always greatly appreciated. Word of mouth is my biggest advertisement.
