Today we’d like to introduce you to Cyrese Jezek.
Hi Cyrese, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started making jewelry in 1993. My husband traveled with his job and I had a three year-old and a one year-old daughter so I started doing it at night and grew to love it quite a bit. After doing it for a while, I started selling it in local craft shows in and around Houston and the Kingwood area. I later expanded and started selling wholesale to boutiques and clothing stores also. After doing that for several years, the perfect space became available to open my own boutique here in Kingwood. Cyrese & Company opened in the summer of 2005. In addition to my jewelry and that made from others, we also clothing and accessories. This year we celebrated our 20th year in business.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road from start to 20 years has not come easy. We have with stood a recession, the flooding of Harvey in 2017, Covid and numerous hurricanes. Not to mention numerous highs and lows within the economy.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I received my formal degree from Texas Tech University with a major in interior Design. This and a love for the arts and creation, which has been carried down to me from my mother and grandmother helped nurture my creative side. I self taught myself how to make jewelry in my early 30s and I still love it as much as I ever did 30 something years later. I believe my formal training in interior design helps me not only with displays in my boutique, it also inspires me when designing jewelry. My love for Native American jewelry and accessories specifically turquoise, initially led me to go into that direction with my beading but over the years, I have incorporated pearls crystals and many other stones which I also enjoy working with. This enables us to offer one of a kind designs which I believe adds to our boutique and the uniqueness. Our clothing and accessories are a mix of BoHo chic with some classics sprinkled in.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is how we treat our customers and the friendships that we have developed with so many of them over the years. I strive to keep them all happy and send no one out the door without feeling that they would love to come back…
