Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Cowdrey
Hi Danielle, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always had a creative streak but mostly focused on singing and acting growing up. It wasn’t until covid that I really started to find a love for painting. I first started with paint by numbers because I found the process really relaxing. At the beginning of 2024, I started to get a bunch of reels on Instagram and Facebook that were mini tutorials, or painting reveals and though “hey, I can do that!” I began with inexpensive materials from Amazon to make sure this was something I enjoyed and used tutorials from various artists on YouTube. It turns out that I had some natural talent and have been working over the past year to improve my skills and experiment with different styles and materials.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not smooth but not too bumpy. I think the most challenging part has been learning on my own without any formal art training. But there are a ton of great resources on the web, and I follow several artists that offer their own classes. The second thing has been launching my own business. I want to share my work with others, but it is tough finding your audience and getting your work in front of the right people. For now, I do what I love and that is creating and put in the work and hope the benefits follow.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in two different types of art. The first are these bright fantastical pieces that take real world creatures and plants and add some sort of twist and a lot of color to them. The second, is large abstract pieces, sometimes textured, that probably appeal to a larger audience and would work in any space such as homes, offices, hotels, hospital, and many more. I put so much of myself into both styles, but the abstract work is where you are going to get a lot more emotion from within the piece.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Be bold. I had no idea that I could paint and at almost 40 years old I am finding this new passion and talent that is more than just a hobby. It is a part of who I am. Don’t be afraid to try new things because you never know what is around the corner for you.
