Hi Danmarie , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always had a deep love for art—it began with photography as a creative outlet, capturing everyday moments in a meaningful way. That passion eventually led me into the world of baking and coffee, where I found a new medium for expression. Wanting to build a strong foundation, I enrolled in Culinary School to study the fundamentals of baking and pastry.
While I gained essential technical skills there, it was through consistent practice, trial and error, and a lot of creative experimenting that I truly began to grow. Cakes didn’t come naturally to me at first—I had to play around with different techniques and materials, often failing, but always learning and having fun along the way. Over time, I found my rhythm, developed my own style, and built a deeper understanding of the craft. I’m still learning every day, but I’ve come a long way—and I continue to find joy in creating edible art that tells a story.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely—I’ve definitely had my share of struggles along the way. But I’ve come to see them as a normal (and necessary) part of growth. I’m always up for the challenge, even when it’s tough. Being a bit of a perfectionist, I can be hard on myself at times, but I’ve learned that keeping a positive mindset makes all the difference. Progress over perfection—always.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in custom cakes—whether it’s for weddings, engagements, or any kind of celebration. What sets me apart from other bakers is my attention to detail. I don’t just decorate cakes; I aim to tell a story through each design, incorporating movement and flow that brings the entire piece to life. That’s something I’m especially proud of.
It’s always an honor when a client trusts me with creative freedom—it means the world to me to be part of their special moments.
Alongside cakes, I also offer a selection of petite desserts. Two customer favorites are my Ube Blondies and Passionfruit Tartlets, small treats with big flavor.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
My biggest supporter and behind-the-scenes hero is my husband. I honestly can’t say enough about how much he’s encouraged me through every late night, every big project, and every challenge. He’s carried towering three-tier wedding cakes from table to table, stayed up with me during crunch time, and somehow manages to be an amazing dad at the same time. Oh, and he’s hands-down the best dishwasher I know!!!
I feel incredibly lucky to have him by my side, helping me bring my sweet dreams to life.
