Today we’d like to introduce you to DeAmber Gamble.
Hi DeAmber, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Dea’s Delectable started out, in the year of 2015, as a project for a college business class. It was literally my first time ever dipping a strawberry. My instructor believed that I had potential to turn my ideas into a potential business venture. Originally, I named my business Dea’s Sweet Treats, but after gaining more business insight, I decided to really press forward and take this thing serious. Eventually, I changed my name to Dea’s Delectable in order to separate myself from similar businesses in the area. Soon I found out that as I remain focused and consistent everything else will fall into place. Business has grown so much for me. I owe my gratitude to God and my husband for staying behind me and pushing me to become a better me. I believe my children deserve to see their mom as a successful, young educated and thriving young woman.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been rainbows and unicorns. I have had many storms along the way. One of my downfalls is not being as confident in my work as I should be. I’m constantly being hard and doubting myself. When overwhelmed and stressed, I sometimes want to throw the towel in and let it all go. I’m a one-woman army, and things do get hard for me to handle alone. That’s when I look for that strength from God. I believe that God knew me before I knew me. He knew that I would be talented, creative and strong willed. So there is no way that I cannot handle what he’s destined for me.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I like to consider my job as a home based treat maker. I provide edible party favors for any occasion such as chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate covered Rice Krispie Treats, candy apples and more. I’m most known for my candy apples which I always find funny because they are still the hardest treats to execute. I’m most proud of how far I have come. Because I didn’t give up, because I kept believing, I can sell and offer my products to someone with pride. My creativity is my baby. It is my gift. I would not have this business nor would I even be sought after for treats if I didn’t have it.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I’m a heavy procrastinator. Especially on big and complex orders. I usually have an idea in my mind on how I would like for my treats to look but after days of brainstorming, I’m not left with much room for mistakes. Although this has happened periodically, I would have to agree that luck was on my side each time. Those times were the times that I produced the best work for a client.
