Today we’d like to introduce you to Deja Randle.
Hi Deja, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Deja but a lot of my supporters, friends, and family call me Dej, I am a content creator and influencer. I first got started during the peak of COVID, I was already on YouTube but not very consistent and I didn’t have a niche. I made a video about my experience at a hair salon and after a few weeks it reached 50,000 views, then 100,000 views and today has almost 300,000 views.
From there I started telling stories about my life experiences and showing my everyday routines, friends, family, and favorite products, and now have multiple viral videos. In the process of flourishing, I decided to expand my brand and move to Houston Texas. The city had more to offer me as a creator and I wanted to be in a new environment with more like-minded people. All while sharing my journey with the people that made it possible.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey has been nowhere near easy. Being away from family and friends has affected me in ways I couldn’t imagine. I have multiple videos highlighting the difficulties of moving away alone and the influencer journey itself.
I’ve struggled at times with really getting creative and making sure my content stands out but still sends a positive message, while also finding a balance between being vulnerable and authentic.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a content creator and influencer. I’m known for my crazy stories, traveling, and creating fun wherever I go. I’m most proud of my ability to stay true to myself. It’s so easy to fall into wanting to create an aesthetic or trying to be like “the girls” and wanting to have or portray a certain image.
I’ve been the same person since becoming a creator, I just elevated my circle and knowledge of the ins and outs of content creation. I only get better with time. My energy alone sets me apart from others. I am truly an experience.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Risk-taking is something I’ve never been afraid to do. It’s second nature. You never know unless you try. Risk-taking is in every life milestone. It’s necessary to elevate, but it needs to be done with common sense.
As a content creator every day you are taking risks with posting content, deciding how vulnerable you want to be, putting out content that can get you judged, or even trying new content ideas that you’re unsure will perform well. I would rather take a risk than ponder the unknown and the what if’s.
