

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. De Andrea Moore and Dr. Amanda Kennedy.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We opened our own pharmacy because we were tired of not having the time to interact with and take care of our patients the way we wanted while working at the big-box chains. At Well Lake, we are able to spend time with our patients and make sure they are educated on how to properly take their medications. We also offer a number of educational services to make sure our patients are able to meet their healthcare goals and live their healthiest lives. Classes offered include diabetes education, smoking cessation, asthma/COPD, nutrition, and weight loss.
In addition, to education, we offer delivery services to the entire Houston Metropolitan Area. Our delivery services ensure our elderly patients and those with disabilities get their medication in a timely manner while receiving the care they deserve.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Our largest obstacle has been the steadily declining reimbursements from insurance companies. As the cost to acquire drugs increases, reimbursements continue to decrease. In some cases, we actually lose money when filling a prescription. This why it is important for us to stay on top of industry trends and to continuously expand our clinical services. Starting in June 2021, we now offer telemedicine services and employ a physician. Patients can now have a video or phone visit with a practitioner and get their prescription the same day! We are really excited about this new service!!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We take pride in being able to provide educational services so our patients can live their healthiest lives. This is something the big box chains did not allow us to do. Now we are able to sit down with our patients and listen to their concerns. We are able to help come up with solutions to those concerns and, in some cases, make necessary recommendations to that patient’s physician. We also enjoy helping our patients make lifestyle changes to decrease the number of medications they are on.

We are not only business partners but cousins. We have to thank our parents, family, and friends for their unwavering support over the last five years.
