Conversations with Edward Chavez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Edward Chavez. Them and their team share their story with us below:

This quintet formed in 2016 between Houston, TX and Philadelphia, PA. Terra Coast’s forthcoming EP “Satsuma” and single ” Dead Letters Pure” serves as a new beginning for the group. One of the more captivating acts to come out of the math/pop/rock shift that dominates the Houston scene. “Satsuma” tackles themes of self discovery, resistance to reform, and overcoming insecurities, with vibrant, melancholic guitar lines, emerged with lush finger-tapping-layers, under warm and radiant vocal melodies that reveal rousing choruses. Fronted by Bryan Montes (Vocals), Edward J. Chavéz (Guitar/Vocals), Stephen De Niro Salazar (Drums), David Peréz (Guitar), and Marcus Leal (Bass).

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Terra Coast has had its fair share of obstacles from member changes, to the direction of music, engineers and promoters worked with, and of course the long lasting and aftermath of covid-19.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We are a group of like-minded artists who come together to share our creative expressions within musical ideas. In laymen’s terms, we’re a band. We are most proud of our ability to remain motivated, adaptable, and productive in trying times. This passion allowed us to release our latest releases, “Satsuma” and “Deadletterspure”.

We believe what sets us apart from others is our ambition for a unique sound, and our never ending search to discover new ways to draw inspiration among one another in developing our music.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
As young aspiring artists, one of the things we believe to be important is for us to remain true to our sound and how we develop it.
