Today we’d like to introduce you to Elias Torres
Hi Elias, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always had a love for music, before I started Djing I was a part of Soundbox Studios in Houston,Tx where I competed in dance competitions such as World of Dance. After 4 years I decided to leave the competition scene and re-directed my focus on djing. Before I was able to afford my first laptop and controller I would spend my time going out and trying to observe Djs as much as I could, eventually after finally getting my first set up I spent time in my bedroom building my music library and essentially learning the basics of djing. The begining of 2022 i posted my first video of some practice footage I had going public for the first time about my new venture, soon enough I was offered to a opportunity for a play for a pop-up event (s/o to Krystal Dioza) after that it became a snowball effect. Later on I was blessed to meet so many amazing people in the dj community who’ve helped me improve my skills and guided me through out my career (s/o to Dj Actbadd,DJ legacy, DJ Chico). Fast forward 2023 things really started to pick up for me, I started traveling to dj at different clubs and venues I got the chance to be Ted Parks dj for the “About dam time north America tour” with artist PH-1 which was definitely one of my favorite moments in my career. 2024 took my career to the next level, that’s when I became a resident DJ for “stage productions” which includes venues like Conejo Malo, Vida Garden , Pick Your Poison and Medellin. Joining the team I quickly learned so much from some of Houston’s top djs (Dj Omix, DJ Heck, Dj Legacy, Dj Erick, Dj Willy B, Dj David Cruz Dj Noel and Scott Summers). That year I started crossing off a lot of my goals like traveling outside of the state, I was able to make my way to Chicago and got to experience a completely new scene in the dj world (s/o to Jsantos). Currently im blessed to be booked every weekend now and continuing to learn as I become a better dj.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Overthinking has definitely played a major role through out my career, self-doubt and trying to find a new sense of confidence when performing. Learning how to manage time properly between my day job, gigs, loved ones , friends and self-care. My life became fast paced and i was spreading my self super thin which lead to exhaustion mentally and physically.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a open-format Dj who currently is a resident at Vida Garden, Pick Your Poison and Medellin.
I’m known for playing high energy edits and remixes of some your favorite music.
What I’m the most proud of is being able to give back. I’ve been blessed with the ability to give back to my parents and loved ones who are the back bone of my career.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Favorite childhood memory would have to be anything with parents, I have so many to choose from.
