Today we’d like to introduce you to Emmy Rubio.
Hi Emmy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Dayba Creations is a testament to family resilience and unity. As we enter into our 2nd year of business, we have a small little shop in League City, Texas and cater to all types of events all across Houston and surrounding areas. As a family-owned business, we have dedicated countess hours together to build a brand that reflects our values and commitment. My husband and I, both volunteer firefighters in League City, alongside our three daughters, one being military, we represent a family deeply embedded in the service of our community. The spirit of service extends to our customers. We believe in sweetening the lives of those around us with all the sweet treats we offer, from freeze dried candies to all sorts of desserts. Everything I create, carries sazon y amor, the kind you can feel in every bite. I make my treats surrounded by Latino music, dancing and pouring love into each step, because energy transfers into the food we share. I’ve always had a sweet tooth, but seeing others smile while enjoying my sweets is what truly makes my heart happy.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’d honestly be amazed at anyone who can say owning a business has been a smooth ride. For me personally, definitely hasn’t been easy and that’s okay. Like many small business owners, we’ve faced moments of uncertainty, long days, financial pressure, learning things the hard way and time when I had to pivot quickly just to keep moving forward. There were moments of exhaustion, self-doubt, and figuring things out without a clear roadmap. But with every challenge taught me something valuable. Each setback made me stronger, more knowledgeable and more intentional in how I run my business. I learned resilience, patience and the importance of adaptability. Those struggles shaped me and sharpened my skills. It helped me build something with solid foundation rather than an easy one. I’m so incredibly grateful for the journey, the good and the hard and everything in between because it’s all played a role in who we are today, and we show up for our customers and community.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We are a creative dessert and event catering business specializing in interactive experiences like our candy wall rentals, custom desserts catering and sweet displays for events of all sizes. While we do have a shop in League City, Texas (139 Gulf Fwy. S), our true passion is bringing our products to people through catered events, celebrations, and pop-ups where we get to meet customers face to face and watch them experience our treats for the first time.
We’re known for our unique flavors of freeze-dried candies, chamoy treats and signature Dubai dessert cups. We have a fully customizable candy walls that turns any event into a memorable experience.
What we’re most proud of is building a business rooted in love, culture and community. What sets us apart is the energy we bring to everything we do. Every product is made with sazon y amor, attention to detail and genuine care. For me, it’s more than treats, it’s about the smiles, the conversations, and the memories that happen while people are enjoying them together.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
My husband and my daughters deserve more credit than I could ever put into words. The support they give me behind the scenes is truly priceless. From long days and late nights to helping in ways most people never see. They’ve stood by me through the highs and challenges, believed in the vision even when things were uncertain and reminded me why this all matters. This business wouldn’t be what it is without their patience, encouragement and unconditional support. I’m endlessly grateful for them and for the role they play in every part of this journey.
