Conversations with Hannah Stewart

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Stewart.

Hi Hannah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hi there! Thank you so much for your interest in my story this whole experience is so incredibly exciting! My story started when I was just 13 years old when I moved to Houston Texas from San Antonio Texas. I had lived in San Antonio my whole life so to move was quite a change for me, I began to venture out different hobbies with all the spare time I had having being homeschooled all through high school. It wasn’t until I was 14 going on 15 that my mom being the amazing woman she is bought me my very first eyeshadow palette as a Valentine’s Day gift! I would never forget the feeling of it in my hands, the shadows that contained such pigment and buttery texture! It was pure magic. From then on I immediately took to YouTube like the classic teen I was and watched hours after hours of content, staying up till 4am on occasion practicing different looks and styles.

By the time I was 19 fresh out of Highschool, I began to think of my future and couldn’t imagine beauty not being in it. I immediately applied for beauty school at Ogle Hair Skin And Nails to officially certify my love for makeup and beauty! During my time at Ogle my time there was anything but simple and ordinary. Covid had hit not even 4 months after my enrollment, and just like everyone in the world I was overthrown with fear of the unknown for the world’s fate was not promised. Being shut inside for a long time began to weigh heavy on my mental health so I began passing the time doing what I did best! I beat my face!! Yassssssss!

Covid and quarantine took so much but I did not let it stop me it was then that I began to take my content creating seriously! I began to start to pull out looks 3-4 times a week, posting and much as I possibly could to fill the time! I had no idea that it would have the incredible impact it did, I began to start seeing so much positive feedback and being advocate for the Hispanic community, LGBTQIA community and spread nothing but love, happiness, and spread acne positivity in loving your skin!

After graduating beauty school and passing my state board exams becoming a licensed Esthetician!! I now have 2 businesses! @pickledesthetician & @pickledmua on Instagram along with my personal makeup slay @pickledblush Leading me to where I am today!! Thank you so much for listening! I am only 22 and my story is still being written for there is so much greatness ahead!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road as you can imagine being a student during covid was so incredibly tough, it was so devastating waking up everyday reading the death toll had increased, constantly living with the fear everyday if today was going to be the day I caught the virus or if my loved ones would fall to their death.

All while on the news seeing the heart breaking racial injustice, and police brutality everyday in the news and losing my dear and beloved childhood cat who I have had in my family since I was just 2 years old. He was 17 years old and passed away one week before my 21st birthday! I then stopped content creating during that time due to my depression and really fit a dark period as to where my life would end up. I thought why go to school! Who’s to say I’ll have a future if the future is not promised! In fall of 2020, I even thought of leaving content creating behind me and no longer focusing on it due to my dark cloud above my head. I thought How will I go on!

I am so glad I never gave up, nor will I ever! Of course, we will have moments of self doubt and depressed but it was that moment that I truly look back on to not lose myself like I did. In that moment, I knew my power and how much I have overcome to get me where I am. It was a fire that was lit!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As I stated I am officially a Licensed Esthetician who specializes in Makeup Artistry, Facials and Waxing! Though I went to school with the intention of makeup being my only focus I fell in love so much with skin! I have always had acne-prone skin and struggled with my image and insecurity from it but going to school I gained so much knowledge and understanding on how to better my skin and feeling confident in my skin! Gaining the right skincare knowledge to help me with my skin journey Instead of covering my skin I embrace it! That is what sets me apart from a lot of creators as being an advocate for the LGBTQIA+ & Hispanic community all while embracing my prone skin! I hope others can get inspiration from me and finding confidence in their skin and within yourself! I also think I add such pizzazz with my tiktok transitions, tutorials and editorial liner, Rhinestone creations and epic bold pigment eyeshadow!

I also am a working MUA on clients @pickledmua on Instagram and I also am a prestigious waxer for my business @pickledesthetician waxing is definitely one of my best pride and joys! Makeup has always given me butterflies and I’ve never felt that way about any other task till I met it’s match with waxing, I mainly specialize in Brazilian waxes! It makes my heart so happy to work on clients, giving them so much confidence and knowing I did that for them makes my heart light up!

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
To always be yourself. I know that’s so basic and always said but it couldn’t be more true! We are all put on this earth with so much people and different personalities! Sometimes many copy each other and find themselves trying to impress others or care what others thing but to be honest I have always been myself regardless of what others think. As long as I’m happy that’s all I care about, I love myself to much to let myself fall to others or care what they think. I add so much to this earth being myself and I wish others realized their power as well!!
