Today we’d like to introduce you to Hector Lopez.
Hi Hector, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Hello, my name is Héctor López. I am a Houston-based videographer & Christian Artist. I am married to my beautiful wife Alcy and father to 3 beautiful children Abby, Liam, and Alan. I started doing video about 5 years ago, way before the pandemic hit us. I worked as a scaffold builder at the refineries for a construction company for about 7 years while doing some video/photography as hobby. I never thought I would make it into my career today. So, in 2020 I got laid off from my full-time job as a scaffold builder, and I was unemployed for almost a year with little income. That’s when I decided to make the decision of becoming a full-time videographer; I can honestly say it has been such a fun Journey, Although it hasn’t been easy.
I mostly film Weddings, Music Videos, Interviews, and some corporate videos. One of my dreams has been to be able to film my first short film. Over the 3 years I been as a videographer, I have had the opportunity to travel and work with really great people who had helped Me and my career grow.
My music career
A little background about my music career as a Christian artist is that I been singing and playing piano, guitar, and other basic instruments since I was a 14 years old. I released my first official Single in 2019, which became #1 in a radio station in Mexico City, I currently have 8 songs recorded you can find me on Spotify, iTunes, and everywhere else.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think that for any person, whether you are an artist, photographer or videographer who pursues their dream career, it’s never easy, specially when you’re in a city that has a lot of competition, but mostly fighting with yourself and not believing that you can go far.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I mostly do videography. When I’m behind the camera, I don’t just see what my camera sees, if that makes sense, I see ART, and I want to be able to convert that ART into video and deliver the same emotion and feeling that I feel when I’m filming either a wedding or a short film.
I am mostly known for my wedding videos.
Everyone has their own style of shooting and seeing art differently, and I believe that’s what makes us different from each other.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Be persistent and consistent with your career, don’t let anyone tell you you can’t do it or you won’t make it. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!
