Hi Jackie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hi there! I am Jackie, the CEO of Joyous Beginnings Events.
My love for planning events started years ago by watching David Tutera on My Fair Wedding. I wanted to know how these events came to life! I did some research on google and I realized my love for organizing, creativity, and problem solving and began planning my daughter’s birthday parties, and later planned friends and family events.
My aspiration to be an event planner led me to pursue a certification in wedding and event management through Lovegevity the Wedding Planning Institute. Through this program I got a chance to meet David Tutera in 2016 and became an intern for his bridal show David Tutera presents the Your Wedding Experience tour!
After I received my certification, I decided I wanted to be a business owner. I named my business after my daughter Joy who I see as my joyous beginning. She has brought much happiness and goodness into my life since her birth. Operating since 2019 Joyous Beginnings Events is an upscale boutique event planning firm based in Houston Texas.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road of entrepreneurship is like following the yellow brick road and not smooth at all. There are many ups and downs that you should expect but haven’t a clue when they will pop up. Ups and downs that help you learn, grow, and evolve in your business. These lessons inspire you to take a step back, look at the bigger picture, reassess, then accomplish the goal! One of my greatest challenges was doubting my abilities and being unsure of myself. For a long time, I held myself back from moving my business forward because I wanted to be perfect. I no longer struggle with this anymore, since I have gained a new mindset, the ups and downs are no longer hard to deal with, but necessary lessons to become better.
