Jasmine, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Da Tru Meltdown began back in January 2022. We were looking for a trailer to start our business and came across one for sale on Facebook Marketplace. The seller, from Louisiana, was parting with his snow cone trailer due to his daughter’s illness. We decided to purchase it and soon began designing a new look and brand that truly represented our vision.
As a family, we gathered to brainstorm the perfect name—and our boys proudly came up with Da Tru Meltdown. From there, we held family meetings where each of us was voted in as a board member. We began setting goals, tracking progress, and working together to build our dream business.
Over the years, making snow cones has become more than just a business—it’s become a family tradition. Through hard work and dedication, our family has grown closer, and our business continues to thrive. Today, our oldest two boys serve as our marketing managers, while our youngest son takes on the role of communications coordinator.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It was smooth at the beginning, but as time progressed, we encountered a few bumps in the road. One of the biggest challenges we’ve faced has been dealing with people who try to scam businesses after events are selected. These experiences have taught us to be more cautious, to double-check every detail, and to stand firm in protecting the hard work and dedication we’ve poured into Da Tru Meltdown.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Both the CEO and President of Da Tru Meltdown work full-time jobs, while our boys are full-time students in the 11th, 8th, and 4th grades. Our lives are always busy, but we make it a priority to create opportunities for our family to come together and make snow cones—one smile at a time. No matter how hectic our schedules get, we find joy in working side by side, serving our community, and sharing moments that remind us why we started this journey in the first place. Every event we attend becomes more than just business—it’s a chance to bond as a family, meet new people, and spread a little happiness with every scoop of shaved ice.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is visiting a snow cone shack every summer when I went to see my grandma in Houma, Louisiana. It was during these visits that I first discovered just how delicious snow cones could be and how much joy they brought me as a child. The sweet flavors, the cold treat on a hot day, and the excitement of picking my favorite topping all left a lasting impression—and planted the seed for my love of snow cones that continues to this day.
