Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenn Donaldson.
Hi Jenn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I recently turned 40 and decided to be daring. So, in the middle of a pandemic, I started my own business in the wedding industry as a florist. September 10, 2021 marked our 1 year anniversary. It’s been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and absolutely one of the most rewarding. I’m so grateful that I get the opportunity to have an artistic outlet that allows me the opportunity to be a part of someone else’s special day.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
One of the biggest obstacles we are currently facing is the shortage in fresh flowers due to Covid. So many people are getting married now. The demand for flowers is high yet production stopped for a while so now we are all playing catch up. Cost of flowers and shipping has increased as well. I think for these reasons our company is in such high demand. We offer fresh, silk, dried, foam and sola wood flowers. This gives our couples so many different options that work with all budgets.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m most proud of the fact that we work with every budget. My biggest goal with every couple, is to give them their dream wedding. Everyone can’t always afford the most lavish look but with so many options in front of them intermixing fresh and faux flowers, we have been able to accomplish beautiful looks every time.
For me, the biggest reward I get is just seeing the joy and happiness of bringing someone’s vision to life. I build a relationship with every single person we book. I have so many new friends now!
The best feeling in the world is getting referrals from past clients. I don’t advertise my business at all anymore. It’s all word of mouth and referrals. To me this is the biggest compliment. I don’t only want to be a part of your wedding but hopefully future anniversary’s, baby showers or even making arrangements for your home.
My biggest goal this past year was making a good name for our company and getting great reviews. I want my company to be well known for its honesty, hard work and dedication to its clients.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Don’t burn bridges. Take the high road every time. Network, promote and encourage each other. Kindness always goes such a long way.
