Conversations with Karly Ivy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karly Ivy.

Hi Karly, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started in the beauty industry in 2009. I attended Makeup First School of Chicago. While in attendance at Makeup First, I noticed a lot of women had bad skin care and was covering it with make up. I then decided to go to esthetician school right after to help with skincare concerns. My inspiration has always been The great feeling I get from helping women feel good and beautiful about themselves. After completing esthetician school, I took further education classes for eyelash extension training, and that’s how my Lash extension journey got started.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I establish a very successful and lucrative business with reliable clientele. After covid19 hit, my business made it through the pandemic and my clients returned. I decided that next year to open a Beauty bar. Unfortunately, this beauty bar fell Through halfway through construction and I took a hard 15k loss. I then realized I had reached my ceiling in Chicago. I wanted more and to expand my business but nothing was working out for positive progress. This year Of June, due to unfortunate events, I moved to Houston, Tx. I am now starting over as a lash artist and I am also using my knowledge as a 5-year esthetician to create Virtual trainings, and ebooks and sell products while also rebuilding clientele.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in Eyelash extensions. I am known for eyelash extensions and my social media presence. I am most proud of the clientele I built up in Chicago. My clients have been with me for 5 years and these client relationships have shown me that I am a reliable, professional service provider with exceptional customer service skills. I am most proud of my loyal clients. I know customer service is big and my work and customer service skills set me apart from others.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Social media and being surrounded by other entrepreneurs is a big part of receiving good advice and networking. The most effective way of networking for me has been personal referrals and word of mouth.
