Today we’d like to introduce you to Kia Patterson.
Kia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have actually always been into beauty from a very early age. I started out doing hair for family and friends. Once I started cosmetology school, I got a lot more insight on how limitless the beauty industry is and fell in love with the esthetic side. I worked under a couple of well-established spas in the area to sharpen my skills and truly focus on my craft. Once I found my style and identity in the beauty industry, Mystikal Beauty came about.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I definitely have had my share of challenges. One that most can identify with is the pandemic. It has had an effect on everything. If there is a spike in cases, people retreat and things slow down. If you outsource product, there is a great chance of delay. The job still gets done, it just takes a lot of patience and flexibility as things continuously change.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a cosmetologist that specializes in esthetic enhancements and waxing. I do lash extensions, lash lifts, brow shaping, tinting, and full body waxing. I am very proud of my ability to have a sharp eye for details. What sets me apart from others is that I like to create more natural looks for the everyday woman, no matter the age. I’m a firm believer that a little goes a long way.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is making people feel beautiful, confident and empowered in their own right. We are in a time where authenticity is slowly fading. I want to help people reach becoming their best self while being themselves.
