Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiki Lauderdale
Hi Kiki, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
From a baby up until age 5, I had a wonderful loving and nurturing childhood surrounded by love. I was raised to believe in God and to talk to God about everything. A few days after I turned 5 My mother picked up and moved far away with a guy no one in my family knew. Immediately my life turned into a living hell as I became a victim of horrific (domestic violence) child abuse.
I didn’t start writing my life story until after the death of one of my beloved grandmothers. My grandmothers are my foundation. I dedicate my story to God and both of my grandmothers Rosa Lee and Vina.
After writing, acting and directing the stage play You Can’t Hear Hummingbirds. I received an award as an award winning playwright.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Constantly replaying the events in my mind nightmares. My belief that the world is generally unsafe, irritability, anger and moodiness, poor concentration, appetite or sleep issues. Nervousness about people getting too close. Jumpiness from loud noises
clinging on to sentimental things that was given to me by someone that cherished.
Difficulty sleeping, easily detached, easily withdraw and hard to trust many people.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My unshakable faith and trust in God’s will and plan for my life’s purpose. I’m a multi-hyphenate WOG with a passion the Arts. I’m a Award Winning Playwright, Survivor, Singer, Actress, Author, Speaker, Artist, Visual Creative and Domestic Violence Awareness Advocate.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Starting any process or anything new taking the first step is the hardest and the biggest step you will take. Dreams remain dreams until you take action so without any action and idea, is just a dream. If you have a powerful story that you know could help others and you want to share it with the world you have to be willing to push through the toughest part of the process, lose people along the journey, walk alone and totally depend and trust God. If your pregnant with elephant size dreams it won’t be easy to push through, but you will and the very hard laboring pains will absolutely be worth every ounce of pain and love birthed once you see your Magnum opus.
It’s OK to dream the impossible. Yes it’s hard but if you continue to push through have faith and trust the process, God will show you why he chose you. Don’t give up! God is able to do it for you!
