Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Michelle Cook.
Lauren Michelle, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Lauren Michelle Cook. I am 56 years old. I am a mother of 3 sons and a wife of almost 30 years . I have been a salon hair stylist for over 35 years.
I am on the Advisory Board of the local Kingwood Lone Star Cosmetology College. I have had the privalage of serving customers and helping people feel and look beautiful which is an honor. As of late, I am also a writer/author of my first novel “The Last America, The Kingdom.” And I have a full script to produce the movie as well. Learning a new art has been exciting and invigorating waking up a part of me I wasn’t sure was still alive.
I love my family and I am a Christian and lover of my counrty. I am also a staunch supporter of our American military troops. I love America and everything our founding fathers wanted for our nation via the Constitution.
My goal in life is to make my famly proud of me and when I go home to meet my maker, that he will be proud of me too.
I have made mistakes in my life like everyone else. That is life. You make mistakes and learn from them. I am blessed with a great family and friends.
I love learning. I hope to keep the wonder and excitement of learning alive all of my life.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When my husband and I started out we made a combined total of $7,000.00 the first year were together. Yes we were broke all the time. But life seemed so much more simpler then. Before Amazon, cell phones and 24/7 365 News Alerts and stress all day every day.
Our son who is now 18 started having seizures 3 years ago. That has been really devastating and scarey to go through for him and our whole family.
We have had two major rearend car accidents happen to us, not our faul, which caused my husband to have to have multiple surgies and stay in a rehab facility for an extended amount of time. I had a successful salon in our town for over 10 years. However I just lost my salon. There was road construction that had taken its literal toll out on my businss and people stopped coming in. I will come back again. I have to. I am recovering from mulitple surgeries. Most rescently due to a fall. One neck surgery and the latest was a rotator cuff . I am going back to work next week. I am grateful for skilled doctors and supportive family. I need knees acl and hip flexor tear that needs surgery. I am praying for a miracle to get those because I will be standing to work. Life can be a struggle. I am grateful for the love and care of family and friends and churc family that have helped us along the way.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Doing hair for 35 years has allowed me to specialize in color matching and color corrections. And I enjoy making others feel good about the way they look.
I have found that I also love to write and being an author has brought me great joy. Working on my film script has brought me even greater joy because I get to work with my husband. He is everything to me. He has supported me writing my book and writing of the script and believes something I have produced is really good. He has sacrificed everything for me and our family and I thank God for him every day.
Well, I think what sets me apart from others is I genuinely care about people. I have hit the jackpot as far as husbands go. I would love to be involved in the entertaiment industry to help support the love and devotion to our country.
I would like to be known for the finished contribution to the world of entertainment industry that turns this nation back into proud patriots.
