Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Tipple.
Hi Lindsey, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Teaching dance and owning my studio was a dream I had in High School. In my early 20s I started my career as a Professional Ballroom Dance Instructor. I wanted it to be my only career, so I pushed myself to learn more, get more certifications, and compete as much as possible. I’ve always loved performing and competing. It gave me an opportunity to be the most confident version of myself. But I also loved teaching and watching people learn and grow in this beautiful art form of Ballroom dance. Being a teacher is not just about teaching dance, but mostly a counselor that uses dance to help people grow as a person or in a relationship with another person. Learning to teach to different students has been a highlight of my career. Making dance accessible to everyone. I’ve taught several students with physical and developmental disabilities and having them travel all over the world competing against individuals without disabilities. The joy that pours out of people and myself is why I still continue to teach and dance. I also owned one of the largest studios in Colorado for 11 years. My husband’s career brought us to Houston 1 year ago. So I’m working on bringing more dance to Houston!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not, it’s been the most challenging thing in my life. Working for other studios and all the drama that comes with that and owning a business during Covid was very hard. Closing my 11 year business with over 2800 clients to move to another state was also very sad.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Professional Ballroom Dance Instructor. Unlike most teachers I teach and am certified in 28 different dances. It has been my only career and not a partime gig. I’m most proud of being creative in adapting my teaching style to any student. And also of owning my studio.
What matters most to you?
The students and their goals. Because I want them to succeed and have them see how amazing dance is.
