Conversations with Loserface

Today we’d like to introduce you to Loserface.

Hi Loserface, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Well, the story is still happening so we really don’t know what it fully is yet. We started as friends and it quickly grew into a team. After the pandemic, we learned how to screen print ourselves and shifted our focus from online sales to in-person at punk shows, and local markets.

Everyone in the group is heavily influenced by music, fashion, and photography. We’ve always got along because we hate the same things and like the same things for the most part.

We hope the story goes on after everyone in the group is dead.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Hahaha, definitely not a smooth road. The struggles start with yourself and you have to learn how to overcome the mental barriers you put yourself in.
Once you realize your mind isn’t the only struggle you’re going to face, you have to get shit going.

Getting over yourself is the easy part. The road never really gets smooth. I imagine it’s still rough when you’re in the position you wanna be in, or think that you want to be in.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Physically what we do is make art and try to contribute it to this creative world, specifically within Houston’s music and art scene. Ultimately what we do is make people feel okay with being an outcast through our art. Given the right platforms, we can do much more, and contribute so much more.

Screen printing on denim, cutting and sewing patchwork, and constantly making new graphics and music. We do it all ourselves in the garage.

I’m proud of us for being self-taught artists and holding onto our individuality and self-expression. I’m sure everyone in the group is proud of different things. One thing I know for sure is that we’re all proud when our art is appreciated.

First of all, our look. We look different than other people. Secondly, the sound that the musicians in our group make. Each individual artist is a genre melting pot. A lot of the graphics and phrases are made to grab your attention however you take it. Specifically to stand out. The whole meaning of our brand is setting yourself apart from others. That’s why we started, that’s why we make what we make, and that’s why we’re going to continue to do what we do.

What do you like about the city?
We have everything here. There’s a lot of room for opportunities. I definitely enjoy how collaborative the scene has become in the past couple of years.
