Today we’d like to introduce you to Martin Fodor.
Hi Martin, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Our passion for brutalist architecture started in our native Budapest, where socialist and modernist buildings stand next to classical, art nouveau and contemporary architecture. We wanted to share with the world this underappreciated architectural style. In a similar way, upon visiting Houston, we discovered a lot of underrated buildings and just like in Budapest, we wanted to put them on the spotlight. We hope this inspires other enthusiasts as well.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest challenge, especially in the beginning was to stay motivated and continue creating content, even when it felt like we were not finding enough of an audience.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Focusing on brutalism and its aesthetic details is something that separates us from many other architectural photographers. It is a niche that has found an audience and we are proud to be one of the leading voices on Instagram for this under represented architectural style. We are proud to display the diversity of architecture of the cities we feature and to showcase the many faces a city can have.
What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
That you should stick to your ideas, your perception and trust your intuition and follow your passion.
