Today we’d like to introduce you to Ore-Oluwa Agunleti.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
The first time I heard the opportunity of modeling was when I was about 9 years old. I was driving home with my best friend and her Dad, and an ad for an agency came up telling me I could be the next Disney star. I instantly told my mom about it and she signed me up for classes. I finished my acting and modeling development track in around 2019. However, 2020 came and COVID paused everything. During that time, I forgot the thrill I experienced while being creative and pushed my career to the side. It went on like that until 2025. In around July, I watched a reality show on singing and saw the participants leave their comfort zone and work so hard to reach their dream. I think that was the push I needed to leave my shell and pursue modeling again. So I took professional photos and was on the look out for any casting call. I finally found one in August for an agency and submitted myself with absolute fear. I still remember being terrified to walk in front of the agency and the other models in the room (who I thought were so much more experienced than I was). I received a call back a few weeks later and was surprised that I got in. Since then, I’ve worked with Lyfestyle Modeling and have been able to build an actual brand for myself. The classes I took, the meetings I’ve attented and the amount of people I’ve talked to (which is the scariest part) allowed me to be confident in what I do. I’ve become more assured in my skills and I jump at any opportunity to showcase them.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No it hasn’t. At first, there was the hold in quarantine and the loss of passion following that. There was also the anxiety of following my dreams and the overthinking that came with that. Currently, scheduling modeling around senior year is my biggest struggle.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a beauty, commercial and fashion model. I’m more known for commercial but as time goes on my brand will spread across all categories. I’m most proud of the confidence I’ve grown and my persistence in this field. I know that modeling is an important thing to me and I trust myself to work hard in order to achieve success. I love how I’m able to walk into a casting call and trust that I have the foundation to carry me through, which blocks my anxiety from affecting me. What sets me apart is my dedication and attachment to modeling; I can’t imagine myself without.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love how diverse it is. When I moved here, it was so easy to find other Nigerian people, which made the transition easier. I don’t like the distance; you could meet five people from houston and they would all still live at least an hour apart.
