Conversations with Osmer Martinez Ramos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Osmer Martinez Ramos.

Hi Osmer, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born and raised in Venezuela, where from a very young age I developed a deep passion for learning and for exploring some of humanity’s most profound and enduring questions about freedom, human dignity, and the role of the individual in society. Throughout my academic and professional journey, I studied public administration, tax law, finance, public safety, and national defense, while maintaining a lifelong interest in philosophy, history, political thought, and music.

My life changed dramatically in 2017, when I was detained in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, due to my political opinions and my opposition to the regime of Nicolás Maduro Moros. That experience marked a decisive turning point in my life. Because of the political persecution I faced for standing firm in my principles and convictions, I was ultimately forced to leave Venezuela and begin a new chapter in the United States. Rebuilding my life from scratch at the age of 53 was one of the greatest challenges I have ever faced, but it also gave me the opportunity to reinvent myself, start again, and build a new path without abandoning the principles and convictions that have guided my life.

Like many immigrants, I had to start over and build a new professional career. I became a licensed insurance agent in more than 20 states, a tax preparer, and a Texas Notary Public, and I founded Crowns Brokers Inc., a general insurance agency dedicated to helping individuals, families, and business owners protect their future and make decisions to safeguard their assets.

At the same time, I never stopped writing or composing music. Over the years, I came to understand that these were not separate activities, but different expressions of a single mission. That realization led me to establish LMG Music Production, my recording studio and independent record label, and later LMG International Publishing, through which I publish my works in both English and Spanish. As a composer and music producer, I am honored to be a voting member of both the Recording Academy (2025) and the Latin Recording Academy (2013).

My writing gradually evolved into an independent philosophical inquiry focused on freedom, human dignity, individuality, and the relationship between the individual and political power. This work led to the publication of my books, including The Manifesto of Permanent Anti-Communism: No More Darkness for Humanity and Perception: A Story with Meaning, as well as a growing body of philosophical essays. Four of my essays have been accepted and made publicly available through SSRN, an international research platform widely used by scholars and researchers.

Looking back, I understand that every stage of my life has been connected by a single fundamental question: How can we help people live with greater freedom, responsibility, and dignity?

Today, I continue to explore that question through entrepreneurship, philosophical research, literature, and music. Although these fields may seem different, to me they are united by a common purpose: to defend human individuality, promote personal responsibility, and contribute ideas and creative works that may help others build more free and meaningful lives.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it definitely has not been a smooth road.

When I arrived in the United States, one of my first challenges was waiting for my work authorization to be approved. It was a period of uncertainty, but also one of preparation. I used that time to study, learn how the American system works, and prepare myself for the opportunity to begin working.

Another major challenge has been learning English. Although I could read and write, becoming comfortable in everyday conversations, business meetings, and professional settings has required patience, practice, and perseverance. It is still a work in progress, and it has taught me the importance of consistency and of not being afraid to make mistakes while continuing to move forward.

Once I was authorized to work, I had to build my professional reputation from the ground up. In a new country, no one knows your background or previous accomplishments—trust has to be earned every day. I focused on providing honest, professional, and personalized service to every client. Over time, that commitment allowed me to build lasting relationships and laid the foundation for the growth of Crowns Brokers Inc.

At the same time, I never abandoned my passion for research, writing, and music. Many evenings and weekends were dedicated to writing, conducting philosophical research, or composing music after finishing my workday. Finding a balance between entrepreneurship and creative work has been an ongoing challenge, but also one of the most rewarding parts of my journey.

Looking back, I believe the greatest lesson I have learned is that a strong reputation is not built through a single achievement, but through countless small acts of integrity, consistency, and commitment to others. That philosophy continues to guide both my professional career and my work as a writer, independent philosophical researcher, and songwriter.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My professional life brings together entrepreneurship, independent philosophical research, literature, and music. Although these fields may seem very different at first glance, I see them as different expressions of the same purpose: contributing to the advancement of freedom, human dignity, and individual responsibility through different avenues.

As an independent writer and philosophical researcher, I dedicate much of my time to exploring political philosophy, liberty, human uniqueness, and natural leadership. This work has resulted in the publication of my books in both English and Spanish, including The Manifesto of Permanent Anticommunism: No More Darkness for Humanity and Perception: A Story with Meaning. I have also written a series of philosophical essays, four of which have been accepted, published, and distributed by SSRN, an international platform for scholarly research.

Music is another way I express those same ideas. As a songwriter and music producer, I founded LMG Music Production, my independent record label, where I create original works inspired by freedom, hope, faith, and human dignity. I am honored to serve as a voting member of both the Recording Academy and the Latin Recording Academy, contributing to the recognition of artistic excellence in the global music industry.

At the same time, I am the Founder and CEO of Crowns Brokers Inc., a Texas-based insurance agency. I also work as a licensed insurance agent, tax preparer, and Texas Notary Public. Every day, I help individuals, families, and small business owners protect what they have worked so hard to build and plan confidently for the future. Staying closely connected to people’s everyday needs keeps my work grounded in reality and continually enriches my perspective as a writer and researcher.

To preserve my editorial independence and make my work accessible to readers around the world, I also founded LMG International Publishing, through which I publish and distribute my books in both English and Spanish.

Rather than defining myself by a single profession, I see my work as one mission carried out through different disciplines. Research helps me better understand the human person. Literature allows me to develop and share those ideas. Music gives them an emotional voice. Entrepreneurship gives me the opportunity to serve people in practical ways every day.

More than anything, I hope my work will be remembered not for the recognition it may receive, but for the value it has brought to others. Whether through a book, a philosophical essay, a song, or the professional services I provide, my goal remains the same: to contribute something meaningful that encourages independent thinking, affirms the dignity of every human being, and reminds us that freedom requires knowledge, responsibility, and a lasting commitment.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I would like to conclude by sharing the conviction that has guided my life and my work for many years.

I deeply believe that liberty is one of the highest expressions of human dignity. I believe every person has the right to think independently, dream without limits, create, innovate, build, prosper, and shape their own future. I also believe that freedom must always be accompanied by responsibility, respect for the rights of others, and an unwavering commitment to truth and integrity.

Throughout my life, I have come to the conviction that societies flourish when they protect individual liberty, the rule of law, private property, free enterprise, and the opportunity for every person to develop their talents and reach their full potential through hard work, creativity, and personal responsibility.

That vision has inspired my books, philosophical essays, music, and entrepreneurial work. Although these projects belong to different fields, they all share the same purpose: to encourage people to value liberty, think independently, and take responsibility for building a better future for themselves, their families, and their communities.

If I could leave readers with one message, it would be this: never give up your ability to think for yourself. Ideas have the power to shape history, but only when they are accompanied by knowledge, integrity, hard work, and perseverance. Whatever our profession or calling may be, each of us has the opportunity to leave a positive legacy through the example we set and the work we do every day.
