Today we’d like to introduce you to Rana Yacoub.
Rana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Growing up, I always had a creative side that I would incorporate into my everyday life. The journey goes back to about 10 years ago when I was always the family photographer on vacations and designated photographer in any friend group.
I pursued a degree in Education from The University of Houston class of 2020, then taught for a year before officially launching my photography business. I know, a degree so far from Photography & Business management, right? But I couldn’t help myself, I LOVE photography, the creative side that I mentioned earlier couldn’t find its way out of my life and I had to pursue what I love.
After trying different types of photography I quickly realized that Wedding Photography was my hidden strength. Being a part of a couple’s wedding day is so rewarding, capturing all of the love-filled memories that they cherish forever. I shoot primarily in natural light that complements my bright & natural photography style in an editorial structure that tells all about the couple’s love story.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I have definitely had my fair share of struggles along the way, however, I believe that they were great learning opportunities to strengthen myself as a photographer and business owner. One of the biggest challenges I encountered is creating that perfect work-life balance. I think that when you are so passionate about your job, you may find yourself working the majority of the day. When I am not working I am either traveling, having coffee with family, or working out.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Being a wedding photographer, I specialize in capturing love stories for couples during engagement photoshoots, pre-wedding events, and my personal favorite the Wedding Day. I prioritize getting to know my clients before the photo shoot or event day to really get to know them and help them be comfortable in front of the camera. This is something that I am most known for, contributing to my natural photography style. I love capturing candid moments of couples interacting with each other, as that is how I believe it is the most genuine emotion to capture.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
One of the biggest risks I take as a photographer is shooting at almost a different location every day, but I love a challenge! I have done photoshoots in every environment you could possibly think of, from -0°F to 100°F, beautiful sunny days to rainy days, but they all turn out beautifully and absolutely breathtaking.
