Today we’d like to introduce you to RaShona Best.
Hi RaShona, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story started with God giving me a glimpse of what I could be!!!! From there I have put my trust in HIM and because of this, I have taught choirs for over 30 years. I have my own business, entitled “In The Beginning Music Studios” teaching piano, voice, and acting lessons that I have maintained for 8 years and because of this experience and schooling I teach music in public schools which has led my choirs and ensemble to receive Division 1 Ratings in competitions. In my off season (summer) I focus on writing plays and ministering in singing. As a preacher this is an on going ministry. I have preached in the Dallas and Fort Worth area churches and since moving to Houston and joining my amazing church Greater Pure Light where my Pastor is Dr. Darryl Broussard I have preached there as well. I am also the Youth Director for our children’s choir that I love dearly! I love what I do and when my students or choir members who I call my babies, know who and what they are singing about my heart is filled with happiness. The film, Sister Act 2 inspired me to want that same atmosphere or bring something bigger and better to the table. My goal is to have my own performing arts school at an affordable price that will allow youth to dive in deeper and gain the knowledge to be a professional musician and or artist. Now that I’m in Houston I look forward to see what God has for me here.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
To be successful you must go through challenges and for me relocating has me starting over which is fine. Sometimes you have to subtract to gain. This journey comes with losing people close to me, but I bless God of the lessons learned and my focus is more intact than ever.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Music Teacher for an Amazing School. I have my own business called, “In The Music Studios.” Here we specialize in teaching the foundations of beginner piano. We also offer voice and acting lessons as well. We will expand on more instruments and add dance as we bring in more instructors to handle the number of youth wanting to be apart of my program. I am proud to have a business that cares about the growth of a child and can maintain affordable prices giving a 5 Star service. What sets my business apart from others is the mastermind and creativity my team and I have in creating shows that have people talking and anticipating on the next show and we do it in a humble way giving God ALL the glory and honor!
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I am at a point of wanting to leave a lasting impression on people! When I put in the work and a child or children understands the assignment and work as hard, this makes me happy. When singing and someone feels my story and enjoys or have been ministered to then Glory to God. When preaching and someone or people can connect with what God has given me than Glory to God. When I have some alone time to rest my brain, that makes me happy. I need time to take in what has taken place. Then once the rest is over it’s time to put in work.
