Today we’d like to introduce you to Savion Edwards.
Hi Savion, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
From just poems in school to freestyling at the lunch table, Music has always been something I felt I’ve always been good at my whole life. I just never took it seriously because my focus was more on school because my grades were top tier compared to anybody else in my family so they believed it was for me as well. Going to college, I didn’t have the resources I needed due to us not having money. I started taking it seriously when I started believing this can become a day to day lifestyle that can put me, my family, and brothers on the map too. Some believed in me from the jump and some still don’t, but I can see this career taking off to not just put me but everybody else willing to put the work in with me.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Not at all, my phone was cut off, I lost my car, and my computer was busted just in one semester of college. That lead me to work even harder to turn music into a career so I decided to drop out and focus on it more. Coming back, my family saw me as a disappointment because they expected me to do that because out of all of my family, they felt I was most qualified.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My music is something you’d have to listen to multiple times just to understand and even after, you still won’t completely catch every line. The lyrics are deeper than the ear can hear nobody how simple the line sounds. Very lyrical and deep yet upbeat and ear-catching. I freestyle damn near everything I make so I never know the outcome of the song I make until after but it usually never disappoints.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Hoopin in front of my crib with my brothers. We used to play damn near every day and the funny part about it was the backboard was broken so it was harder to make shots. But if you are as good as me, backboard isn’t needed.
