Conversations with Sean Cole

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean Cole.

Hi Sean , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hey, just a brief overview about me — my name is Sean Cole. I’m 26 years old and originally from Chicago, Illinois. I’m a singer, songwriter, instrumentalist, producer, and engineer — pretty much everything that comes with creating music, I do it all.

I grew up singing in the church, and that’s also where I began taking piano lessons. From there, I was accepted into the Chicago High School for the Performing Arts, where I continued to develop my vocal abilities and deepen my studies in music.

Throughout high school, I started experimenting with different DAWs and creating my own instrumentals for the songs I was writing at the time. It was during those years that I really began to discover my passion for the full creative process.

When I got to college at Bethune-Cookman University, where I studied Music Recording Technology with a concentration in voice, everything really came together. That’s where I truly honed my vocal production skills — building layered background vocals, making songs stand out, and sharpening my mixing abilities.

I never wanted to rely on paying for studio time or depending on someone else to bring my vision to life. I wanted to be able to do it all myself — from the writing and production to the engineering and final mix.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
its been smooth as it can be for the most part. I need to focus on marketing, I want to find my niche doing social media.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What do you do, and what do you specialize in?
I am a singer and songwriter first and foremost. Writing songs and vocal production are where my passion truly lies. I love creating melodies and then building around them — whether that means layering background vocals that complement the lead or turning ad-libs into harmonies and textures that help bring the song to life.

What are you most proud of?
One of the things I am most proud of is going to college and earning my degree. That chapter of my life represents growth, perseverance, and overcoming challenges, and I’m grateful for everything it taught me.

What sets you apart from others?
I believe what sets me apart is my tone and the way I craft a song. My sound is very unique, and I approach songwriting and vocal production in a way that allows my individuality to shine through.

What matters most to you? Why?
My ability to make music means the most to me. That’s where I find my happiness and my peace. While some people rely on listening to music to help them get through life’s challenges, I rely on the ability to create it. For me, making music is a release — it’s where I’m able to express what I feel and let everything out. It’s my therapy.
