Hi Shocko, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My actual name is “Alijah” but hardly hear that name anymore once I came up with “Shocko” so pretty much that was all she wrote. I come from a very small city Port Arthur, TX and you know it’s hard to follow a dream if you know you don’t have that self-belief. So I started doing photography at about 21, I’m 23 now, and instantly started to take shots for a lot of Houston Artists at first and then from doing that and building relationships and networking I was blessed to doors I wouldn’t imagine ever opening. Now we’re here with over 40,000 followers and over 800,000 profile visits, I knew I’d shock the world one day hence the name. Nonetheless, I give all glory to God, my family, and my supporters, I wanna thank my Older Brother, Joshua for believing in me and also investing in me. I’m just a kid from a city you wouldn’t see on tv screens, just chasing his dreams with a lens. I don’t bother no one, I only encourage and push out positive words because you get what you put out in life and God hears, sees, and everything. I have worked with celebrity Music Artists, NFL & NBA professional players, YouTube Influencers, Actors, etc. Instagram (@sh0cko) with over 40,000 followers and an audience reach of about 700,000 people. Credits: Rod Wave, Trippie Redd, Asian Doll, Bizzy Bone, Paul Wall, TheeMyaNicole, TheerealMykel, ThatgirlLayLay, and the list goes on so forth and so forth. I also am a digital creator on the side so I have a YouTube Channel (Shocko) with 7k subscribers, and I also create NFTs on OpenSea. ( _shocko )
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Actually, I’ve had a lot of disasters happening throughout my career, not the one here to beg for any sympathy or any of that but I lost a best friend of mine and that day, I’ll just never forget anything. I didn’t expect ya know life to make such a crazy and unimaginable turn but yeah one of my best friends, my brother this is for you Myrick. Also, you know people are always going to have something to say about you and I can take accountability and say I was a victim to respond or care about those things in the beginning but now I’m unstoppable, I’m inevitable.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Digital Creator, Photography, YouTube, Influencer. Known mostly from the photography community, I’m really good friends with a lot of cinemaphotographers, Getty images photographers, a few Directors and etc. But I’m mostly just proud of like how I get the attention of people you’d never think you could reach and it just makes me feel good when they respond or give good feedback. Im blessed , and I push out positivity every day, not just Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, no, every day. That’s what sets me apart and my drive is like no other I direct message and email people every single day networking trying to find that one moment that’ll change not only my life but the ones I dearly care for also.
