Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacia E., Leslie M. and Ibe U.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
This podcast came to be when I realized no one was talking about important career and education topics with youths, young adults, and people changing careers. When people attempted to discuss the above, I noticed that folks were highlighting people who are famous without talking to the great people we come into contact with everyday. Once the former was noticed, I was like “we need to get the word out”, but the problem became how to deliver this message. I asked myself: who can I talk about anything with?, who will be unapologetically honest with their responses?, and who do I know will make every conversation a good time?
I understood that these topics aren’t always exciting or easy to discuss. I needed to make sure that we had the right formula to ultimately entertain and educate. When I brought my idea to Leslie and Ibe, I was like, you guys are the most educated and entertaining people I know…and I have an idea of how to use that. They both agreed, then my final task was to make sure to organize episodes to capture listeners, educate, and entertain. That was possible by creating recurring comedic segments, having guests, and having in-depth and hilarious conversations that have kept people entertained and listening.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wish it was a smooth process; Ha! Anything new certainly comes with struggles or “the struggle” ( as we call it). There has been a lot of trial and error. There has also been a lot of growth in how we work episodes. I can say that we were feeling our way through the process and learning our audience in season one. Certain segments were only funny to us, but were not received well by others. In addition to learning about how to market and develop skills to edit, I can say that every struggle has made each of us better with every step.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Ibe (Professor/Co-Host): I discovered that I was really passionate about teaching when I entered graduate school. I am currently a professor and teach at a few universities around Houston. I specialize in Language Arts, Technical Writing, and Literacy. I am most proud of the growth of my students. It makes me happy to know that I had some impact on their academic journeys. This is what keeps me going.
Leslie (Office Administrator/Co-Host): What has set me apart is my skill set and determination. My role plays a vital part that affects every department at my office. I chatted about this in the podcast. For instance, how I can go from working on a coffee machine to assisting with IT matters within minutes. I am most proud of my development within my role and how I have taken on more responsibility over time.
Stacia (Compliance Analyst/ Host, Creator, Producer, ETC.): In addition to running the podcast, I work in Legal Compliance in the Igaming industry. I am excited about the podcast’s future and helping others. This ties into my role in Compliance because I find myself helping all of the time, and it makes me feel great to know I made a person’s day easier. I’m proud of seeing my growth and the impact that I have had on others and the companies I have worked for throughout the years. It has been my goal to leave things better than how I found them, and I believe that is what sets me and this podcast apart.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I think I speak for all of us when I say family, friends, and fans. They have been very supportive every step of the way when creating this podcast.
The honesty is really unmatched, but needed when you are trying to be appealing. I can even say sometimes they are a little too honest ( ha), but we appreciate all of their input. I know when it came to the logo and finding unique guests, close friends and family always had great suggestions.
Additionally, they have also been great about spreading the word and supporting. I have been feeling my way through the process, which has been a lot of YouTube, blog reading, and podcast listening. So, shout out to them! I believe the same can be said for our professional careers. Family and friends have become great support systems, and have also encouraged us to never settle.
