Conversations with Stephan Ravare Jr

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephan Ravare Jr.

Hi Stephan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m a 34-year-old Mixed Media Artist from Houston, Texas. I’m also the owner/operator of Creole Bandit Studio LLC. I’m passionate about art and have exhibited in various art shows and publications worldwide, including prestigious venues in Europe.

I’m also a videographer who’s collaborated with artists and had my videos featured on renowned labels like Universal/Virgin Records.

As a graphic artist, I started with small local art shows in Houston. My digital work allows me to showcase my creations to a wider audience. As a videographer, I initially filmed events at local venues, which helped me hone my skills in visual storytelling.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a mixed media artist is challenging because it requires focus and multiple talents. I face competition with limited resources, marketing, and branding while creating captivating work and retaining clients in a competitive market. Sometimes, I work for free to prove myself and inspire others. It’s not easy, but it’s rewarding.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a mixed media artist that specializes in graphic arts and videography. As a visual artist, I have created things that have illuminated certain aspects of my life, focusing on my faith, family, and the struggles of mental health. As a videographer, I specialize in iPhone videography, utilizing the power of an iPhone camera to create visual storytelling for others of places that I’ve been people I’ve been around and the overall joyous occasions that I’m a part of. One of the things that I’m known for as a videographer in Houston, to create captivating content me, and a cousin of mine would be invited to bring snakes into local nightlife events/parties. This opened a door to so many people wanting to use my snakes for photoshoots, video shoots, music videos. So if you’re ever in Houston and you ever hear about somebody talking about the “snake man” in clubs. That’s me! Two of my proudest moments was taking a concept that nobody ever thought of, and using that ability to work with many different people from movie stars, certified music artists, to Playboy models. And the second would have to be me being published in different magazines, digital news articles, and having my artwork featured in Europe in art shows

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I owe much to many people. The most significant is Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior. His Grace inspired my most recognized art piece, “Focus,” which gave me a breakthrough in the art world. My beautiful fiancé, Maurielle McIntosh, also plays a crucial role. She challenges me to create and pushes me every day, contributing to my business success. My aunt Nina Spencer, a veteran artist, mentored me and helped me navigate the art world. Lastly, my parents, Stephan and Pamela Ravare, provided everything I needed to succeed.
