Conversations with Stephanie Garcia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Garcia

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve always had a creative side to me starting with little projects I’d see online and think “hey I can do that” or little projects I’ve done with the kids.

I’ve always craved to create much more but I didn’t really know how to go about that until I started researching a laser engraver. I felt like this is something I would really love to use, learn and grow with.

Since purchasing my laser engraver I’ve be able to really put my creative skills to practice. I really love just sitting down designing and creating something.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road in terms of I’m still learning and perfecting my skills on painting and gluing my projects.

I think that stuff just comes with practice and the more I create I’m hoping that will help those areas I’m don’t feel 100 percent confident in.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
So I create wooden designs whether it be door hangers, signs, boxes, etc. I create a design and I use my laser engraver to cut my design and paint it.

I’m most proud of myself for creating something completely on my own.

I think what sets me apart from others is a lot of my work is custom made. A customer will come to me and ask “hey this is what I’m wanting, can you do something like this?” and I try to create what they want for them.

Recently, I just had a customer commission me for a custom clock, it was my first time creating a clock but I was able to create a clock that they loved and completely personalized to them.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I learned that just because the world shuts down doesn’t mean you have to. I think I went through a period of time during the shut down where I just stopped growing and learning as a person.

Sometimes feeling lost, honestly. I didn’t get my laser until April 2023 and I wish I would of had this outlet back during those times.
