Today we’d like to introduce you to Susan Del Broccolo.
Hi Susan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Like many photographers, I started with a camera in my hands because I wanted to preserve moments and adventures forever. What began as photographing my life than onto my family quickly grew into a passion for telling stories that felt honest, emotional, and timeless. I realized I wasn’t just taking photos—I was capturing the connections, milestones, and memories that people would hold onto for generations.
As my business grew, I leaned into what felt most authentic to me: equestrians, families, and the western lifestyle. Horses have always represented freedom, grit, and connection, and combining that world with my love for storytelling felt like the perfect fit. Today, I specialize in creating imagery that feels both cinematic and deeply personal, whether it’s a family laughing together at sunset, a rider with the horse that changed their life, or a senior celebrating a new chapter.
Building this business has been a journey of constant learning, balancing a sense of self in entrepreneurship with raising my two daughters, and staying true to my creative vision. Every session reminds me why I started—to create photographs that make people feel something every time they look back at them. That purpose continues to inspire me with every client I have the privilege of photographing.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, I don’t know that I’d call it smooth or bumpy—it’s just been life. Every challenge, unexpected turn, and opportunity has shaped where I am today, and I truly believe things have a way of working out the way they’re meant to.
There have definitely been difficult seasons. Balancing a business with raising my daughters and all the responsibilities that come with family life isn’t always easy, and having an open minded mindset has helped me be flexible and appreciate the good days. Instead of looking at those things as setbacks, I’ve tried to see them as reminders to slow down, adapt, and focus on what really matters.
Every experience has taught me something—whether it’s becoming a better business owner, a better photographer, or simply learning to trust the journey a little more. I think those experiences have given me a greater appreciation for the moments I get to capture for other people because I know just how quickly life changes and how meaningful those memories become.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a professional photographer base in Texas specializing in equestrian, family, senior, and lifestyle photography. More than anything, I love telling stories—capturing the genuine connection between people, their families…and for many of my clients, the horses that have become part of their story.
I’m probably best known for my warm, golden light, rich inspired imagery, and creating an experience where people can simply be themselves. Whether someone is in front of my camera every year or it’s their very first professional session, my goal is for them to leave feeling comfortable, confident, and seen. The best compliment I can receive is when a client tells me, “That actually feels like us.”
What I’m most proud of is photographs that provide “feel” and tell a story. Being trusted to preserve those memories is something I never take for granted.
I think what sets me apart is that I don’t chase trends. I focus on creating timeless images filled with honest emotion that will still feel meaningful decades from now. I also believe photography should be fun, relaxed, and personal. The best images happen when people stop worrying about posing and simply enjoy being in the moment, and creating that environment is just as important to me as the final gallery itself.
What’s next?
I am someone who always has a new idea brewing, but right now my biggest focus is continuing to grow intentionally rather than just growing bigger. I want to keep creating an experience that my clients genuinely love while staying true to the style and values that built my business in the first place.
I’m also excited to continue expanding my work and to travel more for photography. There are so many incredible places and stories I still want to document, and I love the adventure that comes with meeting new people and experiencing different parts of the country.
Beyond business goals, I’m looking forward to continuing to build a life where creativity, family, and adventure all have a place. As my daughters grow, I hope they see firsthand that it’s possible to pursue something you’re passionate about while staying grounded in what matters most.
More than anything, I hope that years from now people will look back at the photographs I’ve created and feel transported to those moments all over again. That’s the kind of legacy I’m working toward.
