Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanya Kaye Villar.
Hi Tanya Kaye, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My life’s work has been shaped by a lifelong fascination with human potential, personal transformation, and the language that shapes our destiny.
At age 27, I founded my first company, a community home serving individuals with developmental disabilities. Working closely with families, caregivers, and residents taught me some of life’s most profound lessons about dignity, resilience, and the unique gifts each person carries regardless of their challenges.
By age 29, I recognized a need for better systems within the industry and founded a software company that revolutionized documentation and compliance processes for facilities serving people with developmental disabilities. The company helped organizations spend less time managing paperwork and more time serving people.
Yet even as I built successful businesses, I remained captivated by a deeper question: What allows some people to transform their lives while others remain trapped in old patterns?
By age 35, my search for that answer led me to open a personal growth center and begin working alongside an international personal empowerment organization. Over the following years, I traveled throughout the United States, Canada, England, Norway, Russia, and other countries facilitating experiential trainings focused on self-awareness, authentic communication, and practical transformation.
One of the core principles I taught was simple: trust the tongues in your shoes more than the tongue in your mouth. In other words, lasting transformation is not found in what we say we want to change, but in the direction our daily actions are taking us.
Through thousands of hours facilitating transformational experiences, I discovered that meaningful change happens when people stop trying to think their way into a new life and begin practicing their way into one. Practical application is where transformation lives. Real change occurs when we fall in love with the practice itself.
And every practice is unique.
Just as no two fingerprints are alike, no two paths of growth are identical. Each person carries their own rhythm, gifts, challenges, and calling. The goal is not to become someone else. The goal is to become more fully yourself.
These experiences ultimately led me to develop The Language of Your Destiny, a body of work based on the understanding that language shapes identity and identity shapes possibility. Through decades of observation, I discovered a profound pattern: the first three words we consistently hear about ourselves often become the blueprint through which we understand our lives.
Today, from the mystical mountains of Arkansas, I continue this work through writing, speaking, podcasting, and Guiding Quartz Quests—immersive experiences held at sacred and inspiring locations. These journeys invite people to reconnect with what I call the Language of the Muses.
A muse is more than inspiration. A muse is an invitation to cross a threshold.
The first half of life is often spent developing gifts to protect ourselves, survive, and navigate the world. The second half invites us to use those same gifts in service to ourselves, our communities, and something greater than ourselves.
My mission is to help people recognize the gifts hidden within their stories, trust their inner guidance, and remember who they were before fear, expectation, and circumstance told them who they should be.
Ultimately, I help people move from survival to service, from inherited stories to authentic destiny, and from searching outside themselves to discovering the wisdom that has always been within.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Has it been a smooth road? Absolutely not.
The greatest challenge of my life has not been building businesses, speaking on international stages, or leading transformational experiences. The most difficult journey has been the one I’ve taken with myself.
At the height of my financial and professional success, I weighed nearly 450 pounds. From the outside, many people would have considered me successful. I had built companies, traveled internationally, and helped thousands of people transform their lives. Yet every morning I still had to face the woman in the mirror.
For years, I wore black almost exclusively because I believed it would make me look smaller. Looking back, I realize I wasn’t just trying to hide my body—I was trying to hide from the story I had created about myself.
One of the central teachings of my work is that the first three words we consistently hear about ourselves often become the foundation of our identity. What I discovered is that it’s one thing to help others rewrite those words, and it’s another thing entirely to rewrite your own.
Applying my coaching, my teachings, and The Language of Your Destiny to my own reflection has been the most humbling work of my life. It required me to recognize that the harshest language wasn’t coming from other people anymore. It was coming from my own inner narrative.
Over the years, I’ve had to consciously practice choosing new words, new stories, and a new relationship with myself. Not because I suddenly believed them overnight, but because transformation happens through practice. We don’t become what we believe once; we become what we practice consistently.
Today, that relationship is healthier and more compassionate than it has ever been. Is it perfect? No. But it gets easier with practice.
One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is that self-love is not a destination. It’s a practice. And just as I teach my clients, your practice is as unique as your fingerprint.
That experience has made me a better teacher, a better guide, and a more compassionate human being. It taught me that true transformation isn’t about fixing yourself. It’s about learning to relate to yourself differently, one day, one choice, and one story at a time.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work is devoted to helping people discover the gifts hidden within their story and translate those gifts into meaningful, practical ways of living.
I am the creator of The Language of Your Destiny, a transformational process that weaves together a person’s life story, Human Design, neuroscience, mythology, and practical wisdom. I often begin with an initial Language of Your Destiny session, where we explore the patterns that have shaped a person’s life, uncover their innate gifts, and identify a simple, profound, and often surprisingly playful set of words that becomes a compass for their next chapter. These words help people recognize their strengths, release limiting narratives, and step more fully into their potential.
I specialize in helping people understand the connection between language, identity, and destiny. My work is rooted in the belief that the stories we inherit are not necessarily the stories we are meant to live. When we learn to reinterpret our experiences through the lens of our gifts, we gain access to new possibilities for ourselves and our lives.
In addition to private coaching and transformational experiences, I lead ongoing Patreon practice communities focused on topics such as Wealth as a Spiritual Practice, Shameless Beauty, and Home Magik. These communities are built around a philosophy I have taught for decades: transformation doesn’t happen through insight alone—it happens through practice. I encourage people to develop practices that are as unique as their fingerprints and aligned with their natural design.
I also guide Quartz Vision Quests in the sacred mountains of Arkansas, where participants step away from the noise of everyday life and reconnect with creativity, intuition, purpose, and the Great Mystery. These immersive experiences combine storytelling, reflection, nature, community, and personal discovery in ways that often create lasting shifts in how people see themselves and their path forward.
What I am most proud of is not any single program, business, or accomplishment. I am proud that after decades of this work, many of my clients have remained dear friends and fellow travelers on the journey. Some relationships span twenty and thirty years. Together, we have witnessed one another’s transformations, celebrated milestones, navigated challenges, and continued growing.
I believe what sets me apart is my ability to bridge worlds that are often kept separate. I bring together neuroscience and ancient wisdom, Human Design and practical action, storytelling and strategy, creativity and personal growth. I help people honor both the measurable changes of behavior and the deeper movements of the soul.
Ultimately, I am known for helping people discover the language of their gifts, trust their unique design, and create simple, profound, and fun practices that release the best of who they are. My work invites people to relax into the Great Mystery, listen for the muse, and become active participants in creating a life that feels authentic, meaningful, and deeply their own.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
One thing people are often surprised to learn about me is that beyond the entrepreneur, coach, and transformational guide, I am an artist, a mother, a grandmother, and a lifelong student of relationships.
I sing, dance, sculpt, create sacred masks and ceremonial wands, and work with artists, poets, writers, and visionaries to help them discover their own creative flow. Creativity has always been one of the ways I listen to the muse and make sense of life’s mysteries.
At the same time, my greatest masterpieces have not been the businesses I’ve built or the programs I’ve created. They have been the relationships that have shaped me.
I have been married five times, raised four adult children, and have been blessed to love and help raise four stepchildren along the way. My life has not followed a traditional script. It has been filled with unexpected turns, beautiful beginnings, difficult endings, lessons in forgiveness, and countless opportunities to start again.
Over the years, I’ve come to see that creating a piece of art and creating a life are not so different. Neither comes with a blueprint. Both require courage, curiosity, resilience, and a willingness to trust the process when the final outcome is still unknown.
My children, my family, my marriages, my friendships, and my creative work have all taught me the same lesson: life is a collaboration with something larger than ourselves. Sometimes we are holding the brush. Sometimes life is painting us.
Perhaps that’s why I am so passionate about helping people discover their gifts and trust their own path. I’ve learned that destiny is not a straight line. It’s a creative act. We are continually being invited to shape, reshape, and reimagine who we are becoming.
Today, whether I’m leading a Guiding Quartz Quest, recording a podcast, sculpting a sacred mask, guiding a practice group in patreon or singing around a campfire, or gathering with my family, I see all of it as part of the same practice: listening for the muse and saying yes to the next chapter of the story.
