We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
After losing my husband on Easter Sunday of 2022 I had to step into the role of CEO as well as single parenthood. It was a world very unfamiliar to me. God strengthened me and provided everything I needed every step of the way. I give all glory to him.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Texas Cops and Communities promotes a collaborative approach to serving youth through alternative community-based programs. The program aims to improve long-term outcomes such as increased access to mentoring services, higher academic performance, reduced school dropout rates, enhanced protective factors, better social and emotional well-being, decreased substance use and gang participation, increased hope and motivation for a positive future, improved public safety, stronger relationships between youth and law enforcement, and greater involvement and satisfaction among community stakeholders, youth, and families. By partnering with local organizations and collaborating with youth, families, police, juvenile judges, juvenile probation departments, and other stakeholders, the TCC program seeks to develop comprehensive solutions that increase youth access to services and enhance public safety across Texas.

I am most proud of the relationships that we have built in the community. and serving the jutice involved youth involved in the justice system. We are partnered with many juvenile judges, family court judges, elected officials, community members and other nonprofit organizations that join us in the it takes a village approach that we utilize. Our slogan states this approach even better ” Together We Are the Solution”. It takes a wraparound service approach to best meet the needs of the community.

I am the only female led minority nonprofit organization in our area to offer this type of village approach partnering with law enforcement, juvenile judges, elected officials and the community to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the communities that we serve.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Embracing strategic risk-taking can propel businesses to new heights. Taking risks is an essential part of doing business and is necessary for the growth and development of any successful organization. While there is no guarantee that any risk will pay off, risk-taking that is well-planned and informed can provide numerous opportunities for business growth.

Companies should strive to create a risk-aware culture and invest in risk-management systems and tools to help reduce the possibility of losses. Finally, taking risks is a necessary part of doing business and should be approached with caution.
