Hi Tramaine, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
From the tender age of thirteen, while my siblings fidgeted, my father unveiled the mysteries of finance and taxes at our kitchen table. It was tedious for them, but for me, it sparked a lifelong passion. Years later, armed with a business management degree, I found myself climbing the corporate ladder, yet my father’s voice echoed in my ears. He saw potential in me that I hadn’t fully grasped myself, constantly urging me to venture out on my own. His faith was so profound, so heartfelt, that when he practically begged me to start my own company, I couldn’t refuse.
In 2017, we embarked on this journey together, launching a business built on years of tax expertise and a shared dream. But fate had other plans. The same year our company began, my father passed away. The grief was overwhelming, a void that seemed impossible to fill. Yet, amidst the sorrow, I found a renewed sense of purpose. I had to continue what we started, to honor his belief in me. And then, my mother stepped in, filling the void left by my father.
With my mother by my side, we pressed on, driven by my father’s legacy and her unwavering support. Each year, we’ve doubled our clientele, a testament to our dedication and the strong foundation he helped build. This business is more than just a company; it’s a tribute to my father’s vision and the incredible woman who helped me carry it forward.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One significant obstacle we faced was adapting to the ever-changing landscape of tax laws and regulations. It required continuous learning and adaptation to stay ahead of the curve. We invested heavily in professional development and technology to ensure we were always providing the most accurate and up-to-date advice to our clients. Another challenge was building trust and credibility in a competitive market. We knew we had to differentiate ourselves by providing exceptional service and personalized attention to each client. We focused on building strong relationships, understanding their unique needs, and going above and beyond to exceed their expectations.
There were moments when the weight of it all felt unbearable. I questioned whether I was truly capable of leading this company without my father’s guidance. But with my mother’s unwavering support, we navigated the storm. We recognized the need to scale our operations and made the strategic decision to expand our team, carefully selecting individuals who shared our values and dedication to excellence. This allowed us to not only meet the growing demands but also maintain the quality of service our clients had come to expect. With my mother by my side, we pressed on, driven by my father’s legacy and her unwavering support.
As our clientele doubled each year, we faced new challenges. The rapid growth strained our resources, leaving us feeling overwhelmed and understaffed. It felt like we were constantly playing catch-up, struggling to meet the demands of our growing client base.
