Hi Vanessa, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Ever since I was young, I loved to paint and do little designs on my nails. I have always wanted to be in the beauty industry because I love to make people feel beautiful. One day, while I was practicing doing my own nails in my backyard, my aunt came over and saw how well I was doing. Her out-of-town shop was understaffed so she asked me to come help. I saw it as an opportunity, so I went to nail school to get my license and started working for her. Once COVID hit and we went into quarantine, I had to come back to Houston. After 3 months of staying home, with the support of my sister, I decided to open up my own mini nail salon with the goal of helping others feel beautiful.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Our biggest struggle was building our clientele from scratch. With the support of my family and friends, I was able to have models to post on my social media and gain clientele from there.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in acrylic full sets and gel manicure with designs. I am known for my hand-drawn designs, and that is also what I’m most proud of. The thing that sets us apart from other nail salons is we can do anime, K-pop, and Korean/Japanese nail art. We create a comforting and relaxing environment for our clients who have had a long day at work, have social anxiety, or want to be pampered one-on-one. We also offer custom press-on sets for those who need temporary nails or are living in other states and countries.
