Conversations with Vivek Chunduri

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vivek Chunduri.

Hi Vivek, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Over the past 14 years, I have been actively involved in running and managing multiple businesses, which has given me a strong foundation in entrepreneurship and a diverse understanding of various industries. As part of my ongoing journey, I have been strategically exploring opportunities for diversification in order to expand my portfolio and venture into new sectors.

During this pursuit, I was fortunate enough to come across a remarkable opportunity — I had the privilege of meeting the founder of Hyperkidz, which turned out to be a pivotal moment in my professional life. Rather than simply observing from a distance, I made a conscious decision to immerse myself fully in understanding the business. To that end, I dedicated nearly two years traveling alongside the founder, gaining firsthand exposure to the operations, culture, vision, and core values that drive the business.

This extended period of close collaboration and learning gave me an in-depth understanding of the true nature of the business — not just on paper, but in practice. It allowed me to witness the real challenges, opportunities, and dynamics that shape the organization from the ground up. Armed with this knowledge and experience, and with a deep sense of confidence in the business model, I made the decision to step into this venture myself. It was not an impulsive choice, but rather a well-informed and carefully considered move backed by years of business experience and two years of direct, on-the-ground learning.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has certainly not been a smooth ride by any means. Since this is an entirely new business line for me, the journey from the very beginning has been filled with significant challenges and unexpected hurdles. The start was rough, to say the least, spanning all the way from the construction phase through to actual operations.

The construction phase, in particular, proved to be especially demanding and complex. Commercial construction is an entirely different beast compared to other industries — it involves a vast number of moving parts that all need to be carefully managed and coordinated simultaneously. The process begins with thorough and detailed planning, which in itself requires considerable time and expertise. From there, obtaining the necessary permits and approvals is a meticulous process that cannot be rushed or taken lightly. Once those are in place, ensuring that all construction work is carried out strictly in accordance with the approved plans adds another layer of responsibility and oversight.

On top of that, finding the right contractors who are not only skilled and reliable but also aligned with the project’s vision and standards was a challenge in itself. And once the right contractors are on board, keeping them accountable and ensuring timely delivery within the agreed deadlines is a constant pressure. Add to all of this the financial demands of funding and sustaining every stage of the process, and it becomes clear just how intense and overwhelming the entire experience has been.

Overall, it has been an incredibly bumpy start — one that tested my patience, resilience, and decision-making at every turn. However, I am glad to say that things are now beginning to stabilize, and the worst of the turbulence appears to be behind us as we move forward with greater confidence and clarity.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
By profession, I am a Software Engineer with a strong academic background, having completed multiple Master’s degrees in Computer Science. My educational journey laid a solid technical foundation, equipping me with deep knowledge and expertise in the field of technology and software development.

However, like many others, my path was not without its struggles. As a fresh graduate stepping into the real world, I went through a particularly challenging phase — navigating the uncertainties that come with starting out, finding one’s footing, and figuring out the right direction in life. It was a period that tested me both personally and professionally, but it also shaped my character and strengthened my resolve.

Over time, rather than confining myself solely to the technical domain, I began to feel a growing pull towards the world of business. I started making a gradual and deliberate transition, slowly shifting my focus and energy from a purely engineering-oriented career path towards building something of my own. This was not an overnight decision, but rather a progressive evolution driven by ambition, curiosity, and a desire to create a broader impact.

Today, I am actively working towards building a new career in business, channeling the same discipline, analytical thinking, and problem-solving mindset that I developed as a Software Engineer into the entrepreneurial space. It is a journey of reinvention — one that I am embracing with full commitment and a long-term vision for growth and success.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I am currently in the process of expanding across multiple locations throughout the United States, Canada, and Australia. It is a very exciting phase and reflects the confidence I have in the potential this business holds.

This sector is genuinely booming right now, and the opportunities are significant. My belief has always been that when something new and promising emerges in the market, you have to move quickly and decisively. Timing is everything in business — if you hesitate, the window closes and someone else takes advantage of it.

By expanding into these three major markets at the right time, my goal is to establish a strong presence, build a scalable operation, and generate solid returns while the momentum is working in our favor. It is about being bold, being strategic, and making the most of the opportunity while it is still there.
