Conversations with Wakai

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wakai.

Hi Wakai, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Any creative release I could do I would try. Since a kid rather it was playing the drums, drawing images, or picking different outfits to channel my expressions. A love for fashion, music, and film photography always ran rapid in my mind. My pops vast collection of vinyl, mixed in with my mother’s love for Erykah Badu & India Arie began my slate for Wakai.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This journey has consisted of jumping from Louisiana to Texas to California all with one goal. It may not be the easiest but the pursuit is one fulfilling.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Creating music, clothes, film photography, and videos. I will always hold music to the highest regard yet each of my other ventures all correlate to make the finished product the most aesthetically pleasing, while expressing more than one concept in my mind. Visually I can convery a multitude of stories through my images, while sonically I can depict stories you can close your eyes and gain nostalgia from. Two different things that still share correlation.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
An authentic process done surrounded by people with good energy. My wit allows me to read energy in ways that are beneficial to my success.
