Conversations with Zaria Jai Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zaria Jai Williams.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
First and foremost, I would love to say how grateful, thankful, and blessed I am to be recognized by you guys. I can’t thank y’all enough for having me.

I ironically started my modeling journey in 2012 in the National American Miss Pageant in Dallas, Texas. My mom was overjoyed that I had been selected to participate and I was totally against it! I was super shy and loved being in the shadows around this time, but to see me now, you wouldn’t even notice.

I went full throttle with my “passion for fashion” in March of 2021. At the end of February that year, I curated and styled a shoot by myself with PQ Media behind the lens. I gave him my vision and he executed tremendously!I had never had a professional photoshoot prior to this time. The shoot went crazy and the photos caught the eye of just the right people! Here I am today, exactly a year later with 3 fashion shows under my belt, two of them being in Los Angeles for LA Fashion Week, one happening to be LA Fashion Week, numerous partnerships with a list of different designers and creators, and creating content almost every day of the week.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t been easy. Some days are better than others. Most days my confidence is super low and it often makes me rethink modeling and if I’m fit enough for the career. It’s challenging at times but just having faith and believing that God has my back and would never steer me wrong in my decisions keeps me going.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I currently attend Prairie View A&M University. I am a full time college student there pursuing a bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. I am currently starting up a styling/creative directing source by the name of HunchoThreadz. I am most known for my ways of styling different pieces and of course being an upcoming model. I am most proud of my growth within myself as not only a person but a young, ambitious, and eager, stylist and model. There have been many obstacles along the way but I remained grounded. I like to believe my thought process and mental alone sets me apart from others. I mean, who really can dream and think JUST like you?

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My advice to young entrepreneurs starting off is to just do it. Literally. The more you procrastinate and keep putting your talents to the side, someone may be passing you up. Try to make like-minded friends that have the same goals and aspirations as you. Being around different creators such as LVE, DreamTeaam, Puffington, Forever Schemin, 2BetterDeys & Slepton Co. has really gave me the drive to be the best I can be. I wish I knew all the tweaks to the fashion and modeling world but it’ll never be figured out. If you want it, you got to go get it. If you want it badly enough, you’ll go get it.
