Today we’d like to introduce you to Zegovia.
Hi Zegovia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My brother Matt Mireles and I started playing together when we were 12 and 15 years old. There was always music in our house, and our parents were musicians as well. They supported us playing because they loved it themselves and it gave us an outlet/something to do together. I started playing guitar at about 9, and Matt started playing drums a little later. As kids, we grew up, listening to what our parents liked, which was a lot of classic rock which we loved as well. As teenagers, we started to get into the more alternative and hard-core side of things. We eventually decided that we wanted to make more pop oriented music as Zegovia. I’d say we got to where we are today just by consistency. We love doing it so much that we can’t quit haha.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not always been a smooth road. People used to make fun of us when we first started because we were little kids and some people didn’t like the music that we were putting out at the time. That didn’t bother us though. We just kept writing and it eventually got better. The hardest part about this band has been line up changes for sure. We’ve had a lot of people come and go, most of them are still our good friends to this day. However finding new band mates has always been the hardest part for sure.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Zegovia is an alternative rock band from Houston, TX. Songwriter and vocalist Seth Mireles’s lyrics take a look at the darker corners of the human condition, while overall having a musical style rooted in punk, power-pop, and many other timeless genres. The band is known for their incredibly fun and energetic live shows where audiences are just as a part of the show as the band is. Zegovia is always communicating and engaging with the fans/people who are the ones making it happen in the first place. Every band says it, but Zegovia truly would not be here if it weren’t for the amazing people that have found the band at a show or online. What sets Zegovia apart is their relationship with their fanbase, as well as their records. Mixed and Mastered by John Allen Stephens of Third Coast Recording company, Zegovia’s albums “Observe”, and the upcoming “Nobody, Nothing”, have high quality production that can only be captured by engineers and producers with years and years of experience.
What are your plans for the future?
Zegovia is on schedule to start touring a lot more. Several Texas tours are planned for the next six months as well as some Louisiana dates. Zegovia‘s second album “Nobody, Nothing” will be hitting platforms on September 29, 2026, and a whole October tour is planned around that release as well. The same members of Zegovia, Seth Mireles, Matt Mireles, Alex Larson, and Quincy Cotton have also started an alternative Houston Heavy band called Subsider with vocalist Seth Starks from the band Løtide. This new group focuses on a much more dissonant and heavy sound and will begin playing shows once the upcoming Subsider album is released.
In other words. Members of Zegovia are about to put out two new albums within the span of 6 months, across two separate bands.
