Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Art runs in my veins. I grew up with my father, an artist, as my first inspiration.
Because of him, I developed a passion for art early.
As a Black man, I believe African stories are profound and must be documented.
My mission is to use art to preserve our identity and originality.
That dedication to African heritage is what makes my work stand out worldwide.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has never been a smooth road for me as an artist.
The kind of work I do is often misunderstood because it carries a deeper meaning.
As a result, galleries are sometimes skeptical about featuring my art in exhibitions because of the narratives I stand for.
Selling my work has also been challenging, because some pieces are very deep and have not yet been shown to a wider audience around the world.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My work seeks to outline the history, culture and identity of the Ife people. My work is characterised
by the scarification patterns inspired by the popular known Ife Bronze Head, to depict the Tribal
Identity of the Yoruba people representing African Originality.
I tactically employs the use of oil and acrylic on usually large scale
canvases to advocate for my culture, idiosyncrasies and the importance of the bronze head to my
people, who hold a high reverence for the head as an integral part of one’s identity and fate.
My work
explores the effect of western contemporary culture and its influence on the culture and style of the
present generation.
I am known for the Ife bronze and scarification and His distinct personal story life.
Any big plans?
I want to do many solo exhibitions and group exhibitions and art fairs in The United States of America to educate the African community and enhance unity across all cultures. I want to also travel round the world promoting my cultural identity and impacting the future generations to never forget who they are as Africans.
