Today we’d like to introduce you to Aisha Dyer.
Hi Aisha, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Over the years, crafting has proved to be therapeutic and creating meaningful art, which in return has brought us so much joy.
After a long week of work, my husband and I looked forward to our weekly ‘Coffee and Crafts Night,’ where we experimented with different mediums and techniques. At these sessions, we had many failed DIY attempts and were dissatisfied with the final product, but it was the process of spending time together and creating art that we enjoyed the most.
During one of the Coffee and Craft sessions, we thought of the idea of offering craft workshops to our community. Our primary goal was to provide a space for everyone to craft and build relationships.
Fast forward to a couple of years and after our conversations, having hosted many successful art workshops at various coffee shops, event spaces, and restaurants.
We have hosted over 250 events, including private craft parties, corporate team-building events, and pop-up workshops around Houston and Austin.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As many small businesses do, we, too, experienced obstacles along the way. However, we are grateful for these obstacles as they have served as invaluable learning experiences and, in return, have benefitted us to be more creative.
During the pandemic and right before the lockdown, we had to refund over a hundred tickets. To avoid future setbacks and to keep the business afloat, we switched our business model to host our workshops virtually. The new business model proved to be a great success and we owe that success to our community. They supported us during this time, and we will forever be grateful for their support.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Crafters Paradise is a mobile arts and crafts studio that hosts pop-up craft workshops for all age groups.
Our tagline suggests, Let’s Craft Our Thoughts; This is evident during our workshops as people let their creative thoughts flow.
All attendees have the same materials and instructions, but each creation is unique. We are thrilled to provide an outlet to the community where they can translate their thoughts into the form of art.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
